(I don't remember the number). Just to clarify, Quickpwn is used to install the installer and cydia apps (Jailbreak), whereas Pwnage allows you to build an image which includes cydia, installer (and whatever else you choose) from the Pwnage libraries, http://www.ehmac.ca/archive/index.php/t-69126.html thus allowing you to restore with said apps installed. Quickpwn would require a re-installation of Quickpwn and all apps. Now with today's iPhone update, if I upgrade to it now, Quickpwn'ing would not be recommended until it is updated to run on 2.0.3 (Or whatever version it will be). kb244Sep 12th, 2008, 11:52 PMiTunes 8 now detects modified firmwares and as such will give an error if you attempt to install one. It'll still work for iTunes 7 though. You have to wait for them to patch iTunes 8 if you still wish to go that route. I just jailbroke my 2.1 firmware ipod, but I had to use the QuickPwn software on windows (rebooted into VmWare on my macbook, installed iTunes 7, then ran QuickPwn, and it had me up and running in now time didn't even wipe my existing data). I, however, have missed one point for 1600 error that occurred when you try to restore itunes error the custom firmware (created by WinPwn or Pwnage Tool) in iTunes. This point is specially for those who have already pwned the iPhone once and plan to upgrade to new firmware version (Say, from 2.0 to 2.0.2 / 2.1) using WinPwn / Pwnage Tool. When you come across the below prompt, you should answer "Yes" and follow the instruction to put your iPhone in Recovery Mode instead of DFU pwnage 1600 error mode. Recently, when upgrading a pwned iPhone from 2.0 to 2.1, I tried to put it into DFU mode and restore the custom using iTunes. And iTunes prompted me with error 1600. At first, I wondered if I did not put the iPhone into DFU mode properly. But it's not. So, I tried to put it into recovery mode instead. And, it works perfectly with custom firmware install. So, when you encounter error 1600 again, ensure you are using the proper mode. How to put iPhone into Recovery Mode To put your iPhone into recovery mode, first disconnect your iPhone from USB cable and power off your iPhone. Then hold the “Home” button and connect USB cable again. Keep holding the “Home” button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon (or yellow triangle for older version of iPhone or Steve Job logo for pwned iPhone). Now you are in recovery mode.
