A better way to get past this error message would be to throw the Linksys router in the garbage. That's where it belongs. I finally got fed up with the cheap, crappy routers I had and got an Airport Extreme and an Express for bridging. I've got a drawerful of cheap, crappy routers; many are Linksys. Tried another browser?I have performed software updates on routers that require you to upload the entire compressed archive, it sounds like the error is happening when you are unzipping the firmware? It may not be necessary. It's a model that I used about two years ago. When opening the "Set up Wizard I go through the security step of entering my computers password then on the next step I get the error message and I'm locked out.
