Optiplex 380 STOP Error: NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/604790/en The Dell Optiplex 380 may report a Stop Error or BSOD (Blue Screen Of http://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq2/index.php?threads/blue-screen-error-hardware-malfunction-nmi-parity-check-memory-parity-error.491809/ Death) "NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity" This error can be caused by the integrated network card driver. Running the PSA diagnostics and memory test will result in all tests passing. This error is mainly evident when booting into Safe Mode with Networking. If the Network card is disabled in the BIOS, the system will boot to Windows memory parity normally. Back to Top 2. Solution Please refer to www.dell.com/support/drivers and download the latest version of the Broadcom Gigabit Controller driver. This can be found under the Network drop down within Drivers & downloads. Download the Network Driver preferably on a different system and save to a USB memory key. On the suspect system, restart and boot into Safe Mode. Uninstall the Broadcom drivers, including the INF file so the memory parity error system does not reinstall the driver automatically. Please refer to the instructions below on how to delete the Network driver for Windows XP Windows 7 Windows XP Follow these steps to remove the Network Driver after you have the latest driver ready for installation: Remove the driver software from Add\Remove Programs. DO NOT reboot. Check Device Manager to make sure the driver is no longer present. Navigate to C:\Windows. Click Tools at the top of the window. Click Folder Options. On the View tab, click Show Hidden files and folders. Click Apply, then OK. Open the inf folder. Scroll down to the oem inf files. There will be an inf and a pnf. Double-click on oem0.inf. Look at the description in the header for the commodity listing. If it is not it, then go to oem1.inf and open it. Continue until you find the driver name. Once found, delete it. Navigate to C:\Program Files. See if the driver folder exist. If there, delete it. Reboot the system. When the new hardware wizard appears, cancel it and install the latest driver from the memory stick Windows 7 Follow these steps to remove the Network Driver after you have the latest driver ready for installation: Navigate to the Device M
Support' started by ARCHIVED-JD2006, Jun 27, 2010. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Next > ARCHIVED-JD2006 Guest Hey guys, I downloaded the trial and am trying to get acquainted with the game but keep getting this blue screen error. It happens generally after 15 minutes or so of playing. Here's the message I get: "Hardware malfunction Call your hardware vendor or support NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Cover ***System has halted*** " This only happens when playing the game, I've never seen it otherwise, and while I know correlation does not equal causation.... As I'm writing this post I'm thinking now that perhaps it is only happening when I play the game in windowed mode - I'll check that out after I post this. Also, when looking through other posts I saw that posters would include a lot of text regarding their system which seems to be copy/pasted. I'm a complete computer idiot, so I don't know how to get all that information. I imagine it will be necessary to help me, but, I thought perhaps this was a known error with a known set of causes. In any case, if anyone could tell me what information they would need from me to provide support, I'll obviously be glad to get it for you. Thanks ARCHIVED-JD2006, Jun 27, 2010 #1 ARCHIVED-JD2006 Guest JD2006 wrote: “As I'm writing this post I'm thinking now that perhaps it is only happening when I play the game in windowed mode - I'll check that out after I post this.” Unfortunately wrong, just happened during full screen play. ARCHIVED-JD2006, Jun 27, 2010 #2 ARCHIVED-Ironcleaver Guest Just to help eliminate it as a variable, I'd suggest testing your memory: http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ The reasion you may only see this error in eq2, and not another game, is that it could be using a rarely used stick of memory. If the above runs though without any errors, then we can get deeper into troubleshooting. There is a post stickied that explains how to list your system specs. ARCHIVED-Ironcleaver, Jun 27, 2010 #3 ARCHIVED-JD2006 Guest Thanks. I ran that test and it found no errors.
