From what I can work out, it seems to happen during or after my backup isscheduled which is a 00:00 every day. The backup is to a 500GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive via a USB 3.0 card. Maybe try another wall-wart powered USB drive as a test. Or your server supply may be under-spec'ed or going bad... Hard to say as these sorts of issues can be caused by other motherboard failures too but the fact it happens during backups (only?) leads me to the power supply. Any sort of power monitoring instaled that could log the rails? Allan Williams

Solved NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error Posted on 2010-02-23 Components Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 2,523 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-10 I have a Windows 2003 server that is is crashing frequently since Thursday of last week. It always crashes to a blue screen that says: *** Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error *** The system has halted *** I have searched this forum, and others, to find that some say it is a memory module, others say drivers, and others say motherboard. I ran memtest86+ for an hour with no errors. After the hour it seemed to restart the tests so I cancelled it. I have since reset the BIOS to defaults and flashed it to the latest version (current version had been circa 2006). I also updated all core drivers (also all were 2006) including video, LAN and chipset. My final step was to remove 2 of the 4 RAM modules and let the machine run. It has since crashed, it usually dies within an hour, sometimes 20 minutes. I have yet to remove the current RAM pair and try the other pair. I will post those results here soon.
