When I try installing it, I get an error message telling me that I must "Turn Windows features ON or OFF" in order to install it. My problem is that I am not net framework familiar with Windows 7 and I am not sure which options need to be either on and off in order to make it work. I have tried several combination within the Control Panel "Turn Windows features on or off" option. Can someone give me a hint as to what needs to be on or off??? Windows 7 installs .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5 through 3.5 SP1 as an INTEGRAL part of the OS, not as an add-on. Because you already have .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5 (all ONE framework. 2.0 is the base, full, framework, and 3.0 and 3.5 are extensions of 2.0), you cannot install it. As you seem to have found, you can see the embedded framework this way: Control Panel->Programs and Features->Turn Windows features on and off... In the Windows features dialog, you'll find Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 (includes all I listed earlier). Expand that node and make sure all subfeatures are active. You can verify the integrity of installed frameworks with this tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx If you do discover issues with the embedded framework, this article describes the correct recovery technique: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2007/03/26/how-to-repair-the-net-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.aspx Marked as answer by Juke ChouMicrosoft contingent staff, Moderator Wednesday, June 29, 2011 9:59 AM Saturday, June 18, 2011 3:08 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Thank
to Enable .NET Framework 2.0 And 3.5 in Windows 8.1 for Older Programs by Brian Burgess27 Comments Written by Brian Burgess In Windows 8.1 the .NET Framework 4.5 is included, but some older programs require a specific version like 2.0 or 3.5. Installing it is easy, here's how. Share aNDFacebookGoogleTwitterEmailMoreLinkedInPinterestRedditPocketTumblr aNewDomain.net -- If you need to run or install an older program on Windows 8.1 you may experience a hiccup or two. That's because the latest version of Windows requires previous versions of Microsoft’s .NET Framework. The .NET Framework is not enabled by default in 8.1, but it’s easy to install both versions so you can continue rocking your old software programs on the latest OS. Windows 8.1 includes .NET Framework 4.5 development platform, but you'll need to install 3.5 or 2.0 if an older program requires a specific version. Image credit: Brian Burgess The Windows Features screen will come up on the desktop. Tick the box next to .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) and click OK.
