The system msi returned error code 1603 quickbooks has no other applications installed. I pre-installed .NET framework 2.0 and 3.0 (fetched from Microsoft Downloads) as well as updated MSI msi error code 1603 to 3.1 as requested by ClickOnce Publish page. Anyway, .NET Framework 3.5 doesn't install from a separated setup nor ClickOnce installer. At the log file, I can find following rows: Code Block

I have resloved the .net framework cleanup tool issue with the folowing steps 1. Run the .net cleanup utility from http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip 2. Make sure there are no .Net versions from add/remove programs 3. renamed the C:\Windows\Asssembly folder and restart 4. On restart, install the .Net Framework 3.5 from the link http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/0/f/60fc5854-3cb8-4892-b6db-bd4f42510f28/dotnetfx35.exe That did it for me. I will try to install IIS in the development machine. Anyway, it's a bit confusing that I need to install a component that I do not need to install the framework. I'll reply tomorrow after I've tried the setup after IIS installation.Best regards,Ville Monday, January 07, 2008 7:36 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote You should not need to install IIS in order to install the Framework (unless you need web-hosting functionality).
.NET Framework 3.5 installation fails for me. Right after the "Downloading components" stage, it sits for a few seconds on "Setup has finished downloading components, you can now disconnect from the Internet" and then it starts to roll back. I'm using XP SP2. A glance in the log files shows that it seems related to MSI error code 1603. Things I have tried: - reinstalling SP2 - uninstalling and reinstalling every .NET Framework version before 3.5 with all service packs Per Aaron Stebner's WebLog, I tried to enable verbose MSI logging, but even so the logs didn't really enlighten me. Here are all the files from my temp folder generated during setup: http://thecybershadow.net/dump/c5719a60148f4ae60a5fa4e3887b3baf/logs.zip Hopefully someone https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/831d8f82-0be5-42b7-a890-cfa539c9dc67/net-framework-35-install-failure-msi-error-1603?forum=netfxsetup with some time and experience in the field can give me a few hints or things to try. You might try this as an alternative: Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en#Instructions Scroll down to Instructions and click on the link to download the redistributable package instead of the bootstrapper, then try the install from your local hard drive.
