No valid source could be found when opening Point of Sale Error: Unable to start the "IntuitUpdateService" Error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/922377 a timely fashion Why this is happening The following errors may be caused by: Beta version of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on the computer Microsoft .NET Framework is not properly installed Point of Sale installation is damaged How to fix it Notes: Before resolving this issue, be sure you have created a restore point in Windows. Consult your Windows documentation to https://community.intuit.com/articles/1289964-resolve-point-of-sale-installation-errors accomplish this. Following this process requires that you have your Point of Sale installation CD available. To resolve this issue: Ensure to update Point of Sale to the latest release. Go to the product updates page, make sure Point of Sale is selected as your product, and follow the instructions to install a Manual update. You may have to reboot afterward. Run the system file checker. Run the System File Checker (sfc) tool using the /scannow option. Running sfc will attempt to repair all Windows operating system files, including Microsoft .NET Framework. Reinstall Point of Sale. We have removed a bunch of malware from my computer and are now finished with that. critical updates from Windows Update. I am using Windows Update to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. Every time it is failing with error code 643. I have now tried to manually download it and install it. I get an error message that indicates "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'netfx.msi' in the box below." The netfx.msi file is not on my system, therefore I cannot change anything in the browse to help. If you continue from this point, you get "Error 1706.
