Net Framework 3.5 Install Error Visualstudio8setup
.NET Framework > .NET Framework Setup and Servicing Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi everyone, I have been at installing this .Net Framework 3.5 update for a while now. I have looked online for many hours trying to find the correct solution for me but I have not come across any sites that have helped. I am running on Windows Vista x64 and have tried many solutions including attempting to us MS Clean-up tool, acquiring all windows updates (.net framework 3.5 update is the only one that doesn't install correctly... namely update KB951847), and also doing a repair installation on the vista OS. When I run the standalone installer for .Net Framework 3.5, dotnetfx35setup.exe, I properly download the update but when it comes to installation, the progress bar awkwardly stutters back and forth at approximately 60% complete, then gives me this error: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Window Title] Microsoft Windows [Main Instruction] setup.exe has stopped working [Content] An error occurred during setup and a report was created with useful information about the problem encountered. Or other versions? If so, try uninstalling them (from Control Panel) before attempting the install again. I was at dev connections in April and received a complimentary CD for VS 2008 and I installed it without a hitch. If I remember correctly, everything was there from the get-go. Dynamic data, MVC, etc...(or maybe I installed the ASP.NET 3.5 extensions, not sure). Now I've installed VS 2008 from an MSDN download. Again, no problems. However, all the new cool web stuff is missing. So I googeld and found that it is all now part of the 3.5 SP1 beta. Fine...went to install and it crashes and I can't seem to find out why. There is a recuring message in the error log that reads something like "...indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0a is not installed". How do I resolve this?? Any input is greatly appreciated. It may sound more obvious, but from the error messages that you have posted, Do you have a clean installation of .NET Framework 2.0 on the machine? Whydon't you try re-installing the .NET Framework 2.0 first and then try installing the.NET Framework 3.5 and then SP1. I am specifying an order here, since .NET 3.5 is more of extension to the base .NET 2.0 so, please try that way and letme knowdid it installed. .NET 3.5 SP1 Siva Senthil My Share My Discovery http://siva-senthil.stumbleupon.com http://del.icio.us/ksivasenthil Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you Reply matloob84 Member 20 Points 11 Posts Installing ADO.NET Entity Framework 1.0 issue Jan 18, 2009 09:24
