fine. Tonight, at home, I installed the program. When I try to launch, I get an error window: Little Registry Cleaner.exe - .Net Framework Initialization Error Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\Installroot to point to the .NET Framework install location. What does this mean? Question information Language: English Edit question Status: Answered For: Little Registry Cleaner Edit question Assignee: No assignee Edit question Last query: 2009-05-15 Last reply: 2010-02-11 Related bugs Link existing bug Related FAQ: None Link to a FAQ Nick (ub3rst4r) said on 2009-05-18: #1 This needs to be set to where the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed. Go to start, run, enter "regedit" and press OK. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\Installroot and change it to where the framework is installed. Mine is set https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0d28b06e-3046-4e70-9f20-3a1042afa50c/please-set-registry-key-for-netframework?forum=itmanager to "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\". My daughter has had the exact same message after carrying out a complete system restore. So far it doesn't seem to affect the PC. I ran 'regedit' and got as far as ' HKLM\Software\Microsoft\..., but there was no sign of '.NETFramework etc. On my own machine it's exactly as Nick states on https://answers.launchpad.net/lilregcleaner/+question/71197 his. Please go to Google and search for ".net framework 3.5". Follow the links to the download link and try to install it. If that doesn't work than go to add/remove programs and look for "microsoft .net framework 3.5" and click on repair. Thanks jaygee_em (jaygee-em) said on 2010-02-10: #6 Thanks for the advice. I won't be at my daughters for a few days, so I can't try this yet. Is it important as to which version of '.net framework' is used ? I could just copy the version on my PC and copy it to an identical location. We both run Win XP. Nick (ub3rst4r) said on 2010-02-11: #7 Yes it must be v3.5. I wouldn't try moving your files because there are different types of the framework and theres a ton of files that it must use. This sort of sounds like a virus, I would do a scan using something like malwarebytes.org Can you help with this problem? Red Storm Lifer Joined: Oct 2, 2005 Messages: 13,226 Likes Received: 6 I keep getting this error when I try to run anything that uses .NET: Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework install locationClick to expand... Well I checked that registry key and the path is set as C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64. I tried changing it to where .NET has a folder in Programs Files, but that didn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling .NET Framework. Tried every version. I tried fix/clean up tools. No luck with anything. Google searching brings up the solution as "You don't have .NET Framework installed" but I clearly do. This is Win 7 x64. Fully up to date. #1 Red Storm, Sep 28, 2012 vailr Diamond Member Joined: Oct 9, 1999 Messages: 5,028 Likes Received: 4 Did you try using the official ".NET Framework Cleanup Tool": http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=121918 ? #2 vailr, Sep 28, 2012 Red Storm Lifer Joined: Oct 2, 2005 Messages: 13,226 Likes Received: 6 Yes, that's the tool I ran before reinstalling net framework. #3 Red Storm, Sep 28, 2012 Rhonda the Sly Senior member Joined: Nov 22, 2007 Messages: 815 Likes Received: 2 I don't believe the .net 4.0 package contains any .net 2~3.5, you may have to install those separately. #4 Rhonda the Sly, Sep 28, 2012 nickbits Diamond Member Joined: Mar 10, 2008 Messages: 4,125 Likes Received: 0 Yeah, you need to install the version the app requires #5 nickbits, Sep 28, 2012 Bubbaleone Golden Member Joined: Nov 20, 2011 Messages: 1,792 Likes Received: 2 Red Storm said: ↑ I keep getting this error when I try to run anything that uses .NET: Well I checked that registry key and the path is set as C:\Windows
