No Grldr Windows 7

I was attempting to create a bootable flash drive---I downloaded UBCD4Win and I thought I had
How To Fix No Grldr
built a usb boot version. I was wrong! When I rebooted my laptop, I was greeted with a black screen that announced "No grldr" nothing else, no other information or directives. I tried to boot from the flash drive but that was futile as well, since I had obviously not configured it correctly. I have tried everything from running FIXMBR, FIXBOOT, BOOTCFG /rebuild etc. from an XP installation disk to trying Spotmau Recovery file cannot find grldr windows 7 options (which didn't work),to booting from an Ubuntu LiveCD and seeing if I can undo the boot sector changes on the Windows partition, but no dice. With the Ubuntu cd I have visibility into the hard drive and I am able to access the internet (this is where I am sending this message from), but I am not sure if I can repair the boot partition from here. I would like to remove any trace of the grub loader or map files that are telling the OS to look for it, and just reinstall ntldr in the appropriate boot sector. Up to this point I have not been able to reinstall them. All my files are still on the drive, but most of the applications are native Windows, and it is not feasible to try to replace all of them at this point. I do not have a UBCD4Win disc for windows, unfortunately; I tried to burn one from my Mac, but it doesn't seem to be able to create a bootable image. I have an old UBCD Linux disc, but I have not been able to access anything from it. I have tried to use Virtualbox to create a virtual windows OS, but my mac is old (Panther 10.3.9), and the only versions are for Mac/Intel proce

You must have had Linux installed on the machine at some stage. That's not a problem, itself. But the old Linux installation has left behind a boot loader which appears to be hijacking the system, when you try to boot Windows. Either check the support channel for the Linux distribution you were using, for details about how to remove GRLDR. Or follow the steps in this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 to run bootrec with /fixmbr and /fixboot ... that should hopelfully restore the Windows boot loader so it starts Windows Vista normally. Be aware, if you are dual-booting Linux and Windows, this will probably remove access to your Linux installation.
