My script is using the Tweepy module to fetch data from Twitter. So I include Tweepy and try to compile it into an executable using the following Setup.py: from distutils.core import setup import py2exe setup( windows = [{"script": "main.py"}], options = {"py2exe":{"includes":["sip", "tweepy"]}} ) The following Error gets raised: raise ImportError, "No module named " + qname ImportError: No module named tweepy I've succesfully used the same setup file py2exe missing modules readline (minus the 'Tweepy include') to compile other script in the past. What am I missing here? python compilation py2exe tweepy setup.py share|improve this question asked Nov 9 '14 at 7:08 Loops 56118 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Assuming that you have tweepy installed in the python installation that you are trying to build with try adding: import tweepy near the start of your setup.py to ensure that py2exe can really see it, some packages do some interesting things during import. share|improve this answer answered Nov 9 '14 at 7:25 Steve Barnes 15k22037 Steve.. File "setup.py", line 22, in ? import py2exe ImportError: no module named py2exe I've installed py2exe with the installer, and I use python 2.6. I have downloaded the correct installer from the site (The python 2.6 one.) My path is set to C:\Python26 and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1271337/importerror-no-module-named-py2exe I can run normal python scripts from within the command prompt. Any idea what to do? Thanks. Edit: I had python 3.1 installed first but removed it afterwards. Could that be the problem? python py2exe share|improve this question edited Aug 13 '09 at 11:21 asked Aug 13 '09 at 11:14 Reshure 1,79942024 have you installed setup_tools ? –Geo Aug 13 '09 at 11:19 No, I haven't installed that. Does py2exe requires that? –Reshure Aug 13 '09 at 11:24 Try python --version to make absolutely sure you're running Python 2.6. –Michael Mior Aug 13 '09 at 11:25 It shows python 2.4.3. I've never installed that though, probably came with my computer. Is there a way to change the default python version? –Reshure Aug 13 '09 at 11:28 I think it does require setup_tools. On my computer, I have it installed and I generated an exe yesterday without errors. Try to install it. –Geo Aug 13 '09 at 11:30 | show 1 more comment 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Sounds like something has installed Python 2.4.3 behind your back, and
would send an email using the email modules of python as well as the smtp module. My problem is when i put it into https://www.daniweb.com/programming/software-development/threads/160938/import-error-with-py2exe an exe using py2exe and vega's code snippet setup i get some http://popdevelop.com/2010/04/how-to-build-an-executable-application-from-your-python-script-qt-special/ problems. This is the error message i get when i try and run the .exe file: Traceback (most recent call last): File "email_program.py", line 2, in

It is especially focused on how to solve the problems that might occur while building a python QT application. For me, it is important that I easily can distribute my applications and if you give someone who isn't as geeky as yourself some Python script they most probably won't know what to do with it. What we instead want to do is to create a executable file that can be run without having Python installed. This can be done with the help of py2exe. A note for you cool Linux or Mac users out there: This guide only covers windows. Mac users can use py2app and follow guides on aralbalkan.com and tripmeter.in. You badass Linux users can find a guide at omgwtfgames.com. We at popdevelop might post a guide for you later on. Lets start with the outline of what we need to do to build our executable: Create a Python program Download and install py2exe Create a setup.py script Run the setup.py script Create a Python program This shouldn't be so hard, but since I'm a sucker for GUI applications I will give you two options here. Regardless of the option you choose in this example the scripts should be saved as "main.py". The first option is to create a simple python script that prints "Hello Executable" in the console. This is done as shown below. print "Hello Executable" 1 print "Hello Executable" The second option is to use a QT GUI Python application. I wrote a guide here on popdevelop on how to do this last week so if you don't know how to implement a GUI app using QT please follow the Setting up IDE and creating a cross platform QT Python
