That shouldn't be necessary if you're running JDK 6, but also can't hurt. Another thing to try is to run the 'sysinfo' tool with your application's classpath to see what sysinfo reports. –Bryan Pendleton Dec 21 '12 at 0:46 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted Do you load Derby JDBC driver? You can do it using the following java startup command: java -Djdbc.drivers=org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver For another way to load it see docs: http://db.apache.org/derby/docs/10.7/devguide/cdevdvlp40653.html share|improve this answer edited Dec 20 '12 at 20:14 answered Dec 20 '12 at 20:03 tcb 1,7801018 no! how can I do that?I mean exactly where? –Hanna Dec 20 '12 at 20:12 1 just added a link to Derby doc which explains loading JDBC driver. –tcb Dec 20 '12 at 2

As you may remember, I have a copy of Derby that came pre-installed with ColdFusion 8 Developer's Edition. http://apache-database.10148.n7.nabble.com/Activity-4-Error-No-suitable-driver-found-td104265.html But I want to use Derby with PHP, so I have installed the 10.3.2.1 binary distribution and am progressing through Getting Started with Derby. When I run WwdClient in Activity 4 of the Self-study tutorial for users new to Derby, I get the following error. (For completeness, the output from running WwdEmbedded comes first.) java WwdEmbedded org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver loaded. Line 35 of WwdClient.java is: String driver = "org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver";Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
