They download OK and then I restart as instructed, but after a while I get a window to the effect that :- "None of the selected updates could be installed" "An unexpected error occurred" I've tried three times but same result each time. Any assistance would be appreciated. If you are, reboot your MBA to the recovery partition: (hold down command + r keys when you hear the bong! sound) once in recovery, select Disk Utility. Click on repair permissions. After that finishes, reboot back to Mountain Lion. Try downloading and installing the updates once more. Well, I'm not quite sure if I'm using an admin account or not. I just set up my new account and proceeded to try and download the updates. So how do I find out? Also, I don't know what "your MBA" is. (remember, I'm new to Mac, so will require guidance all the way!! Sincerely Sid Reply With Quote 11-24-2012,

» [Resolved] Unexpected error on updating [Resolved] Unexpected error on updating Murdoch @murdoch 9 months, 1 week ago This is a local installation front-ended by https://wordpress.org/support/topic/unexpected-error-on-updating/ DesktopServer Limited v3.8.1 (hence XAMPP) using the Headway 3.8.5 theme. https://github.com/Microsoft/vsts-tasks/issues/1483 Whenever I seek to install a plugin (whether by directly installing or by uploading a zip file from the local machine) or update a plugin I typically get two or three very similar error message panels followed by a final message panel including the none of following header comment: (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org … in J:\WebDev\tangodorset.dev\wp-includes\update.php on line 303 This is followed by a panel of six lines each comprising a number, a function name and a location, these being as follows: 024 {main}( ) ..\plugins.php:0 584 require_once( ‘J:\WebDev\tangodorset.dev\wp-admin\admin.php' ) ..\plugins.php:10 848 do_action( ) ..\admin.php:342 832 none of the call_user_func_array:{J:\WebDev\tangodorset.dev\wp-includes\plugin.php:525} ( ) ..\plugin.php:525 200 wp_update_plugins( ) ..\plugin.php:525 952 trigger_error ( ) ..\update.php:303 I can post information from the earlier panels if necessary but, briefly, they each consist of seven almost identical lines beginning with function {main){) [I know that seems unbalanced but that's how it's written] in ..\update.php:0 and ending with function trigger error() in ..\update.php:123 or ..\update.php:467 in one example.
In these earlier panels the time differs as well, here running in the first from 0.0117 to 10.2842 and in the second from 0.0117 to 18.9785.
Any help or pointers you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks, M
