It either locks up on the logout or shutdown or preparing to configure windows message. 2) on startup a DCOM error is reported "the server {...} did not register with DCOM within the requested timeout. Event Id 10010 3) I can't run SFC. It fails "window resource protection could not start the repair service. I've tried a whole bunch of suggested fixes trying to get windows update to work. Windows must now restart." As others on the forum have done, I type nt authority system "Shutdown -a" in the Run window to stop the shutdown, though my connect to my wireless router has magically disappeared (it requests my security key when I try to connect, which I don't want to do because I have another PC on the network that seems to be working and I want to keep it that way). I am running ZoneAlarm security suite and have done so for several years without gaps. After reading other posts, I have installed and run Malwarebytes but it didn't find anything. I have also run a full scan with ZoneAlarm Security Suite, which also found nothing. Finally, I have installed HijackThis and have pasted the log file below. If this is a virus or spyware, it's the first one that I have ever gotten. Thanks a ton for any expert guidance that you can provide.
