Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. isn't that pretty self-explanatory? –Pekka 웃 Apr 6 '10 at 9:37 that it is not self explanatory.when i try to access the web application i am getting that error in eventviewer it is showing that error.even through i havce permission to access the app. –kumar Apr 6 '10 at 9:42 It seriously is self explanatory as Pekka says. You should realise that your IIS application runs under the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. Is the intention that it should run under the account of the user browsing the site (i.e. is it an Intranet application for example) –Martin Smith Apr 6 '10 at 9:56 try to take a look at the following links. I understand machine account needs some rights to be able to “talk to” with specific program(Sql server), but why needs it rights to accesses database and its tables? Isn’t it up to the account specified in connection string

Somebody stated this: On Windows 2003 Server, ASP.NET uses the Web App Pool identity by default, and by default this is NT Authority\Network Service. You need to give this account permission to login to the server (permitted logons) So how do I actually give account permission to user NT Authority\Network Service. Thanks[:)] Reply DWesthead 1 Post Re: login failed for user "NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE" Jun 19, 2006 07:13 AM|DWesthead|LINK Depends on what you want to give this permissions to - do you want it to access a site in IIS, access a folder on the servers disk etc Could you please clarify what you want to give the service access to Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post, if it helps you.
