If not, you need to use Server.CreateObject(...) instead. –Bond Apr 2 '14 at 1:30 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote If this is classic ASP, with VBScript, then: Dim oCR = CreateObject("CrystalDesignRunTime.Application") ... is definitely not going to work. This should be: Dim oCR Set oCR = CreateObject("CrystalDesignRunTime.Application") As for the "ActiveX cannot create object" error, this is due to an installation failure of the Crystal Reports component. I would recommend you first try reinstalling the component. Failing that, look in the installation folder, and work out which file implements the ActiveX component (crtslv.dll ?). Then go to a command line and type: regsvr32.exe "

I've a problem in registrating my own com object, which I wrote http://www.visualbasicscript.com/CreateObject-results-in-error-424-m99121.aspx in VB .Net 2010. I can call it from an other vb .Net program, but https://sockettools.com/kb/runtime-error-424-object-required/ I can't call it from my vbs. I gave it a strong key and registred it by Visual Studio. I'm using Win7 Professionel on an AMD 64. That's the problematic piece of code: Set ST = Wscript.CreateObject("My1stCOMClass.My1stCOMClass") Hope, any of you has an idea! #1 59cobalt Total Posts : 2531 Scores: 247 Reward points : object required 0 Joined: 7/17/2011 Status: offline Re:CreateObject() results in error 424 Saturday, August 25, 2012 4:32 AM (permalink) 0 Error 424 means that the object could not be created. Perhaps you didn't register the component correctly, or your component doesn't implement the IDispatch interface, which AFAIK is required for instantiating COM objects from VBScripts. #2 vbRicci Total Posts : 6 Scores: 0 Reward points : 0 Joined: 8/24/2012 Status: offline Re:CreateObject() results in time error 424 error 424 Saturday, August 25, 2012 10:57 PM (permalink) 0 I think I registered the component correctly and I implemnted the IDispach interfac, regasm did not report any error. But why does'nt it work?

This error can occur if the control is not properly registered on the local system, or if the object has not been referenced correctly. More Information If the ActiveX control is being created dynamically using CreateObject, you must use the Set statement to assign the object reference to a variable. If the object variable has been declared as a Variant, an error will not necessarily be returned if you assign it to the return value of a CreateObject call, however error 424 will be generated whenever the application attempts to reference the object. Check to make sure that the control is installed on the system and register it using the regsvr32.exe utility. This utility should b
