DECLARE @RunScript bit; SET @RunScript = 0; IF @RunScript != 1 BEGIN RAISERROR ('Raise Error does not stop processing, so we will call GOTO to skip over the script', 1, 1); GOTO Skipper -- This will skip over the script and go to Skipper END PRINT 'This is where your working script can go'; PRINT 'This is where your working script can go'; PRINT 'This is where your working script can go'; PRINT 'This is where your working script can go'; Skipper: -- Don't do nuttin! Warning! The above sample was derived from an example I got from Merrill Aldrich. Before you implement the GOTO statement blindly, I recommend you read his tutorial on Flow control in T-SQL Scripts. share|improve this answer edited Apr 4 '12 at 4:58 answered Apr 4 '12 at 4:53 Jed 5,383135394 1 Thank you Jed! Or perhaps you could tell me how to "better write" the following macro so I don't get an error at all. I have a list of cells with numbers and what the macro does is insert "x" number of rows based on whatever the number is in the row (above) the active cell. For example: A1 = 8 A2 = 2 A3 = 5 A4 = 3 below A4 3 http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/58276-exit-sub-error.html rows are inserted, below A3 5 rows are inserted, etc. The macro works from the bottom up but errors out when it gets to the top (A1): Sub FormatForm() Range("A1").End(xlDown).Offset(1, 0).Activate Do Until ActiveCell = "A1" ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Activate Dim i As Integer For i = 1 To ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Value ActiveCell.EntireRow.Insert Next Loop End Sub I'm sure it has something to do with my Do Until or maybe I need an Error On statement, but not quite sure. Help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot! :o Share Share this post on Digg Del.icio.us Technorati Twitter Reply With Quote Aug 16th, 2003,07:51 PM #2 bat17 Board Regular Join Date Aug 2003 Location Maidstone, Kent UK Posts 1,470 This is not a good answer but it is getting late here Sub FormatForm() On Error GoTo GetOut Range("A1").End(xlDown).Offset(1, 0).Activate Do Until ActiveCell = "A1" ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Activate Dim i As Integer For i = 1 To ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Value ActiveCell.EntireRow.Insert Next Loop GetOut: End Sub Share Share this post on Digg Del.icio.us Technorati Twitter Reply With Quote Aug 16th, 2003,07:55 PM #3 Tom Urtis MrExcel MVP Join Date Feb 2002 Location San Francisco, California USA Posts 11,069 Re: Exit Sub On Error One way, inserting rows above: Sub Test1() 'Insert up On Error GoTo EH Dim x As Long, y As Long Application.ScreenUpdating = False For x = Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row To 1 Step -1 y = Cells(x, 1).Value Cells(x, 1).Resize(y, 1).EntireRow.Insert Next x Application.ScreenUpdating = True Exit Sub EH: Ms

So if error happens I want script to exit quietly (without popup error message or it to close automatically). (My script is reading some data from database and performing some actions with IE.) (After some time, I will be checking if my script is not running restarting it.) Please let me know if there is a way to on error exit do that, thanks. Everyone can write "error free" code. I'll give you a quick "tutorial" to writing error free code. If you have a funciton and you think it might fail ( you can also see if it can fail in the help file ) Then put this after the function: If @error Then Exit For example: $hWnd = WinGetHandle("omglol") If @error Then Exit If you are working with arrays you need to add a few checks with UBound. But we'll get to that later. Congratulations, you can now write error free code. And that's all there is to it! If you have any specific questions, please come back later. josvanegmond.nl,github.com/jvanegmond
 Rishav 0 Polymath Active Members 0 200 posts #3 · Posted September 1, 2009 i think he is talking about getting error in the application being automated. like an unhandled exception dialog in .NET. the way i handle it is that i have a function where i have written the window headers for all the usual errors that i get. whenever any of these windows exist, my script takes a screenshot, logs what was the last action done and exits. i just call this funct
