Imp-00058: Oracle Error 3135 Encountered
from this post on how to import an Oracle .DMP file. I issued this command into the command prompt: C:\>imp sys@dev/password12345 FROMUSER=FOOADMIN TOUSER=FOOADMIN file=c:\fooadmin.dmp full=yes It then prompts me for a password in which I enter the correct one and then I receive this error: IMP-00058: ORACLE error 12154 encountered ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully Actual Question: How do I fix this error and be able to import the .dmp file successfully? Or what are some steps I can head towards to potentially get this working...? My Files & What I've Done I have looked through countless posts on this same issue. My tnsnames.ora, listener.ora, & sqlnet.ora are located in this directory: C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome\NETWORK\ADMIN My connection in my tnsnames.ora file looks like this (I have also tried to put my computer name as the HOST, instead of 127.0.0.1)... DEV = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = DEV) ) ) PATH Variables I added the following to my PATH (I realize there may be some unnecessary item in there, I just wanted to be on the safe side. ): C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome\bin;C:\oracle\product\11

Posted on 2014-09-23 Oracle Database 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 808 Views Last Modified: 2014-09-25 I am not familiar with Oracle and have been tasked to attempt to get an application running that uses Oracle. The oracle error application is POCA from the FDA. This application is old and the documentation (from 2010) refers to Oracle database 10g. I was only able to get 11g so I know there may be issues. I was able to install Oracle and am attempting to run the installation scripts for the application. At one point I get the following error message. IMP-00058: ORACLE error 12154 encountered ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified IMP-00000: Import terminated imp-00058 oracle error unsuccessfully Any idea what this mean? 0 Question by:rpcr Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 76 Active today Best Solution byslightwv (䄆 Netminder) The tnsnames.ora file is what tells the 'client' where the databases are. I places 'client' in quotes because even the database server has the 'client' built in and thus, a tnsnames.ora file. It is probably best that you copy a known good one from another machine. This file is in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin 0 Message Author Comment by:rpcr2014-09-23 Thanks for the info slightwv. I installed Oracle by going through the installation wizard from the Oracle 11g download. I did not manually create entries in the tnsnames.ora file. I don't even know what that is as I am not familiar with Oracle. I'm just trying to get a standalone app that uses Oracle to work if possible. We are a SQL Server shop so there are no other machines with Oracle installed. I'll take a look at the online docs. Thanks. 0 LVL 76 Overall: Level 76 Oracle Database 74 Message Active today
Robert Jackson | 7 Comments UPDATE: Although these IMP-00058 errors were encountered when using a 10g and 9i client, I believe that it can also apply to other versions of Oracle where there is a mismatch between the client utilities when exporting and importing IMP-00058: ORACLE error 6550 encountered ORA-06550: line 1, column 33: PLS-00302: component ‘SET_NO_OUTLINES' must be declared ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully This error was encountered when exporting from a 9i database using a 10g client, and then importing into a 9i databse using the 10g client. I had to export and import using the 9i client in the end. Setting the Correct Path If you are using Windows, type PATH at the command prompt and see what the values are set to. There will most likely be multiple Oracle paths in there. For example, D:\Oracle\Ora92 and D:\Oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1, for a 9i client and a 10g one. The one which appears first will take priority over the others. You can modify which appears first on your command prompt session by copying out the path to a text file, re-arranging it so that either the 9i or 10g one appears first and then copying it back into your command prompt window, with a PATH=D:\Oracle\Ora92…..etc, etc. Making it Permanent You can also modify this parameter for the environment permanently, with the following: Click START -> right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables In the "System Variables" box at the bottom there is a PATH variable Click "Edit" and then change the order for which Oracle Home appears first in the list The main image of this post should help you see where you go to when changing the Windows PATH environment variable. Being Explicit If you are still unsure, you can also specify the full path whenever you invoke SQLPlus or IMP/EXP, etc. For example, my PATH variable has has D:\Oracle\Ora92 at the beginning of it but I want to use the 10g Export executable, so I would type: D:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\db_1\BIN\EXP to invoke the export command If you would like to read more about database monitoring, have a look at my other articles on TEMP space monitoring and UNDO space monitoring.
