If not how was it generated, and is it actually just a series of SQL statements in a script? –Alex Poole May 23 '14 at 11:14 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote You received IMP-00037 error because of export file corrupted. I'd suspect either your dump file is corrupted or the dump file was not created by exp utility. If the issue was occured because of corrupted dump file, then there is no choice other than obtaining uncorrupted dump file. Use impdp utility to import if you have used expdp utility to prepare dumpfile. Following link will be helpful to try other option: https://community.oracle.com/thread/870104?start=0&tstart=0 https://community.oracle.com/message/734478 If you are not sure which command(exp/expdp) was used, you could check log file which was created during dump export. It contains exact command which was executed to prepare the dump file. share|improve this answer answered May 24 '14 at 16:13 Suresh Gautam 36917 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. marker unknown and the import terminated . Here is http://grokbase.com/t/freelists.org/oracle-l/05b7wng5vp/character-set-marker-unknown how i rectified the issue . SOURCE BOX : AIX TARGET BOX : Linux This issueusuallyariseswhen the oracle error dump iscorrupted . In my case the itwasn'tthecorruption. To reduce the file size the dump file is compressed by the Unix COMPRESS utility . In theLinuxserver (target) i did not un-compressit , so the import failed oracle error 00037 . To resolve this i used the GUNZIPLinuxutility and the re-imported the data and it completedsuccessfully.
