ORA-01655 tips Oracle Database Tips by Burleson Consulting May 4, 2015 Question: I am getting the ORA-01655 error when I try to create a tablespace: 1 create tablespace data012* datafile 'd:\testdata\data\data01.dbf' size 20mSQL> / create tablespace data01*ERROR at line 1: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-01655: unable to extend cluster SYS.C_TS# by 5 in tablespace SYSTEM How do I fix this ORA-01655 error? Answer: The ORA-01655 error happens when you need t add space to a tablespace by adding a datafile using the alter tablespace add datafile syntax: alter tableaace my_tablespaceadd datafile 'd:\testdata\data\data02.dbf' size 300m; In this case you should be using the SYSTEM tablespace as your default tablespace. The oerr utility shows this for the ORA-06155 error: ORA-01655: Unable to extend cluster string.string by string in tablespace string Cause: Failed to allocate an extent of the required number of blocks for a cluster segment in tablespace indicated.Action: Use ALTER TABLESPACE ADD DATAFILE statement to add one or more files to the tablespace indicated.
