I was using ESXi for a while now and switched to Windows/Hyper-V as I thought ESXi was acting funny since it would freeze my server randomly. Now that I was able to install proper management tools on Windows, the HP Insight Diagnostics gives me following error(s) for Drive 3 and 4 (which both use the same cable): The SCSI error logs indicate that a parity error occurred. The Seagate drive in that array is rather old and I wonder if it is causing an issue. However, when the server froze and I reset it, the raid controller said it was a lock up. Now I wonder, could this be more than just a defective HDD? I also find it werid that it gives me a parity error as I am using Raid 10 Tags: HP358,746 FollowersFollow Raid ControllerProject Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: Error: 19098 - An error occurred starting the default trace. SCSI errors are for the drive, not for the RAID card. The SCSI errors would be telling you that a drive is having an issue, not that the RAID array was. 1 Anaheim OP ChrisBac Aug 4, 2015 at 9:22 UTC Ok! I know that sometimes it showed me that the HDD in Bay 3 failed. However, that's the one I RMAd recently, so I doubt it was that one. I guess I will replace the old Seagate then? Any idea? 0 Pure Capsaicin OP Scott Alan Miller Aug 4, 2015 at 9:32 UTC Niagara Technology Group (NTG) is an IT service provider. The array logs should tell you what one has failed. Don't try to guess. 0 Anaheim OP ChrisBac Aug 4, 2015 at 9:37 UTC I can't find anything about it in the array logs. 0 Pure Capsaicin OP Scott Alan Miller Aug 4, 2015 at 9:42 UTC Niagara Technology Group (NTG) is an I

I have scheduled jobs of course and they run during the night. It seems like certain days everything will work fine, then all of a sudden the tape drive might not read the tape or eject it properly and the job will fail, and when those problems happen of course the event log shows errors almost every minute. Now I have tried unplugging the cord, inspecting the pins on the cable and device and even replaced the cord, and also had a spare scsi controller card that i replaced and any of which seemed to fix the problem for a day or so then the log file resumes compiling the errors. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling veritas & hp drivers for the tape drive but nothing has yet to work. Right now it is backing up properly but in one given day i receive 200 some parity errors and more than likely it will start failing again. I have also purchased an additional scsi hard drive that isn't workin

Dec 30 04:02:35 ratoune kernel: sym1: SCSI BUS has been reset. After some time (1 min to 5 hours) the disk stop responding and I'm getting the SCSI parity error message on the console. Linux is still running, but anything wich needs disk access fails. I am not able to log in via the console. After a reboot, everything is OK for 2 or 3 days (it happened 3 times already). I wasn't able to find on the web (or in the kernel driver source code) what the "SCR1=3 DBC=f000000 SBCL=6f" means : HW, driver error, cable error ? I updated the kernel (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 -> 2.6.14-1.1653_FC4) and it still makes the error, (I noticed there are no more errors at boot time). I don't know wether I need to change my disk or my cable or my scsi card or just upgrade the scsi driver! I'm giving some more info at the bottom of this message. T
