Pci System Error On Bus/device/function 0000h
I re-installed Windows XP it went away for a while. On sunday I started to get the error again and everytime I turned it on the error would appear 3-5 times before it would boot into Windows. Now it will no https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/quot-PCI-Bus-Parity-Error-PCI-Slot-00-quot-error/td-p/3927729 longer boot into Windows but the BIOS logo still shows. My motherboard is a Gigabyte X38-DQ6 if that helps. I have tried clearing CMOS but no luck I have tried to boot from disc and make sure the Hard Drives are OK but still no luck. It may even be as simple as changing a value of something in the MB Intelligent Tweaker since the it is overclocked. Is the motherboard on it's way out? I'll try memtest when I can get it boot from CD. Do you think reseting the bios will work? Thanks m 0 l Best solution jsc a c 198 K Overclocking September 22, 2010 12:35:17 PM I think your motherboard has failed. Your PCI bus slots are wired to an 8 bit parallel data bus. The basic way to constantly monitor this is to add a nineth bit. Then the circuits that put the data on the bus count the number of bits in the word and if it is an even number of bits usually adds a parity bit so the word contains an odd number of bits. This is called "odd parity". Even parity can be used, the the usual convention is odd. Then once the data arrives, it's checked. If you picked up or lost a bit, the system flags an error. Yes, there's an obvious flaw in the system. What if you pickup or lose two bits? Parity checking will not be able to detect that. A more complex ( read expensive) system can correct a single bit error and detect a 2 bit error. You have this system for the PCI bus, but not the PCIe bus. Remember, PCI Express is basically a serial bus Google "parity error" or "parity checking". Share Related resources Pci parity error - Forum Cod

How lost it feels without my beloved PC ! Tried using it last night and some really strange stuff ocurred on boot-up. Rather than the normal full screen Dell logo, I got information about my BIOS and processor with a "hit DEL to enter set up". Unfortunately, neither the mouse nor keyboard had been detected so all I could do was wait. Low and behold, the screen went blank, followed by the following error : PCI Parity error on BUS/Device/Function on 00080h (or sometimes ooooh). The messages was randomly jumping accross the screen which worried me a tad. I am no expert but guessed this may be a hardware fault, so re-seated my RAM and checked that the processor, fan (which is working fine)and all slots and leads were in properly. On one of my trillion attempts, it did fully boot and load windows. Not wanting to count my chickens, I shut- down and tried again. Since then, no joy though, just get the same message. I am running a Dell Dimension XPS 500, with 384 MB ram (3 x PC 100 mhz 128 MB), and Intel PIII 500 processor. Any ideas you nice people ? Reply With Quote 07-24-2001,07:39 AM #2 Psycho Logical
