Pro Tools Error 6101
MacPro Hello everybody, Some days ago I switched from my old Mbox 2 (USB) to Mbox Pro 3rd gen (Firewire). Ever since this move I have massive problems with the "Buffer Underflow" error. Here is my current Setup: My Mbox Pro

has its own Firewire Port on my Mac Pro (so it doesnīt "share" this bus with any other device). The Audio is on an external Firewire-Harddisk that is connected to a (different) FW-Port. There are no other FW-Devices connected to the Computer. Now I open a Session, that contains Audio Files which are stored on that FW-Dirve. As soon as I try to play back ANY Audio from that Drive through the Mbox Pro Iīll get the following error almost imediateley: the audio device buffer underflowed Quote: The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently try decreasing the H/W Buffer Size in the playback engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085) - When I play the same audio through my old USB-Mbox, I get no errors. - When I copy the whole session to an internal SATA-Drive, I also get NO errors, never. - But as soon as I try to play audio from my Firewire-Disk through my Firewire-Inteface, I get the error imediately. - The error even occurs, when I stream sound-files from my sound-archive (which is located on a FW-Drive) through Soundminer via ReWire into ProTools. So in that case the audio isnīt even IN THE SESSION... It just comes from a FW-Drive, streams via ReWire, and I still get the error, as soon as I hit play in ProTools. Here is, what I tried to do so far: - I tried a different FireWire Interface (MAudio ProFire 610) -- the exact same error is still there. So itīs no error in the Mbox Pro, it seems to happen with different Firewire Interfaces. - I tried out different Firewire Dirves (three different drives from three different Manufacturers: Western Digital, Lacie, Avastore). The error is always the same. - I tried different Buffer Sizes in the Playback engine - I reset the PRAM on the MacPro - I use the latest Mbox - Drivers and updated to MacOs 10.6.8 a

Cindy Burns New Member Thread Starter I have been using Pro Tools LE MBox Pro 2, version 7.1.3, with my iMac for the last http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/audio-device-buffer-underflowed-help-rid-me-of-this-buffer-error.364781/ 14 months, without any real problems. Suddenly, a few weeks ago, I start getting http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/showthread.php?t=203489 an error message when I playback or record (mostly recording): "Audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the H/W Buffer Size in the Playback Engine or remove other Firewire devices (-6085 or -6086)" . The message sometimes comes within a few seconds of starting a session, or can come up to an pro tools hour or so into a session. But each time it occurs the session will then no longer allow me to continue either recording or playing back for very long. My specs: iMac Intel 2.16 GHz OS x 10.4.11 (I had 10.4.9 when this error message started a few weeks ago) Space: 447.33 GB available I save my Pro Tools sessions to the internal drive. All my sessions are currently pro tools buffer being saved in my documents file, although to be honest I tend to delete them after a short time, when I have had the chance to put the final mix onto a CD or Dat tape. As for external hardware - other than the MBox going into the FW400 port on the back of my Imac, just a printer via USB and my BT router via its thing. No other FW port is in use. Things I have tried: *As it suggests in the message, I have tried decreasing the buffer, plus increasing it, to no avail. *I bought a new Firewire cable (because a Digidesign engineer told me that "The DAE errors 6086,-6085,-6097 all relate to communication error as a result of a interruption or conflict with the data throughput to the unit."). No joy. *I talked to an engineer about geting an external drive, but they don't think this could help. *I reinstalled Pro Tools LE. *I tried the two following workarounds I found on a website (they are meant to work with version 7.3.1, but worth a try with 7.1.3 I reckoned): "Connecting Mbox 2 Pro after the Mac has booted will prevent this behaviour." and "Quit Pro Tools, disconnect then reconne

Help me please? I've never seen this before ever in my year of owning pro tools. This just started happening last night and I cannot find a fix. I've been searching all over the internet and have tried nearly every single suggestion I could find on how to fix this, but the problem will not go away. It's only doing it during bouncing the track. When I play back everything is completely fine, but as soon as I try to bounce the track it does this. But it does it at the very end of bouncing. My pro tools was working completely fine until last night when this started happening. Stupid dual monitors distorted the pic but what it says is "The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the 'H/W Buffer Size' in the Playback Engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085) I've tried doing everything it says and also everything else I could find online and have had no luck. kerska View Public Profile Send a private message to kerska Find More Posts by kerska Advertisement 07-05-2012, 06:14 PM #2 JamesM The Armada Join Date: May 2010 Location: USA Posts: 7,489 Thanked: 89 Feedback Score: 5 reviews Weird man. It's only a couple EQ plugins and compression but it's about 4 minutes long. Just way zoomed out. But I have no idea what this underflow .... is. Its never done this until last night out of the blue. kerska View Public Profile Send a private message to kerska Find More Posts by kerska 07-
