The Current Playback Engine Does Not Support
Date: Sep 2002 Posts: 11 Assertion error on line 1346 / iLok Hi, Sometimes when I attempt to start PT9, I get the following the current playback engine does not support a sample rate of 44.1 khz error message "Could not create a new document because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/ws.ProTools_9.0.x/AlturaPorts/DFW/MacBuild/..Views/UMenu.MacOS.mm", line 1346. Then, when I click OK, I get a second window saying "Error, missing iLok authorization for ProTools 9". I googled a bit and found that it's a http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/error_message/Could-not-create-a-new-document-because-Assertion-in good idea to delete the databases. So I did that, which didn't help. I then found out that if I don't hook up my iLok (V1) to my MacBook Pro's USB port directly, I don't get this message. Pretty simple, but I need this USB port to hook up other devices (like my USB audio interface - I bought PT again after quite a long break because it works with my USB interface with CoreAudio...) The OS X system profiler shows http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=294378 that the iLok is hooked up to my USB hub. (externally powered 7 port D-Link with a couple of other devices that work fine) I just logged on to ilok.com and couldn't see the iLok dongle although I did about 3 refreshes. Then I removed it from the hub and plugged it to the USB port directly (removing the hub for that). It then showed up on the 1st attempt. I removed it again, went back to the hub and did another refresh. It worked again - although I have the same setup (hub in between computer and iLok) as before. Is there a workaround for this? I have 9.0.1 and the newest iLok software installed. I had occasions, where I was able to start PT9, work for a while and then got the message to save, quit and hook up the dongle out of the blue. The dongle always being hooked up the the hub, and I've always checked if the LED on the iLok was on which it was. The hub doesn't seem to be the problem because the other devices work fine. Any suggestions / workarounds?
