PT 8 Error -6086. god i hate that error K so Pro tools 8, looks great, cant wait to play with it. Unfortunately im getting the dreaded Increase buffer size error -6086. The problem is im getting http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Error_Message/en363971 this error with NO TRACKS CREATED! Im just pressing the play button. I've played with the buffer settings to no avail. I tried the demo session, same error. I opened the session on an external drive, same error. I removed all plugins from the DAE plugins folder, deleted all digidesign preferences, same error. I've optimized my system using the guides on the first page. Im using the original mbox on Vista 32 home. (i http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=234923 know Home hasnt been tested) Surely it has to be a problem with my physical computer components? So im hoping someone can tell me if something i've got is the problem. cos all these computer numbers etc mean nothing to me! ASUS P5N-E-Sli Motherboard nVidia Nforce 650i Socket: 775 INTEL CORE 2 Quad Q6600 SLACR Latest "G0" stepping / "SLACR" S-spec G.Skill Twin Pack 2x1gig DDR2 800Mhz (PC2-6400CL4) Model: F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK INNO 3D 8800GTS OVERCLOCK 320MB 570/1800Mhz PCI-E MODEL: I-88GTS-L5ITCSX WD 320gig SATA2 KS 16meg Cache WD 500gig external. Firewire external drive Antec 650watt TRIO TruePower Model: TP3-650 I know people have said NVIDIA cards, especially in SLI are a problem, but i just cant see that being the issue. I will test it though by taking them out. I've turned off that vista aero graphic thing, so my desktop looks like ass. I just cant get PT 8 to play anything! 7.4 had problems as well, but i managed 150 Dverbs with that (which i still think is terrible) nothings changed since, just a complete uninstall of pro tools 7.4 plus drivers etc. And a fresh installation of PT 8. I'm hoping someone can look at my specs and go, "yeah you cant use that ram" etc etc. cheers in advance guys..................and girls. :) __________________ Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Intel Core i7-2

We explain how to wring that last ounce of power from your Pro Tools rig. Computer power grows every year, but so to do the demands we place on our systems. The increasing sophistication and popularity of software instruments, samplers and the like means that conserving CPU power is still crucial for many of us. In this month’s workshop we’ll be looking at ways in which Pro Tool users can do just that. Playback Parameters Ultimately, the raw processing power of your computer is the key to how well your Pro Tools system will perform, whether you use a Mac or PC, TDM, LE or M–Powered system. It matters even more on host–based systems such as LE and M–Powered, because TDM systems have DSP cards to take care of most audio processing duties, leaving the host processor to manage data management, routing, driving the screen and so on. Either way, your host computer has a finite amount of processing power and when it’s gone, it’s gone! Hard–drive bandwidth can also be an issue, so although you may be able to play back a Session with 32 tracks just fine, the system may start to cough if you do some heavy editing or add lots of plug–ins and automation. Squeezing the last ounce of performance out of your system is nearly always going to be a trade–off of some description. Whether that means fewer plug–ins for lower latency, or rendering effects to reduce the number of active RTAS plug–ins, to quote just two examples, you will end up having to make a choice between several evils.
