and needs to quit." So, I reinstalled OSX on a new SSD Drive, transferring nothing from the old Drive. Installed Pro Tools 9.1 from the Full Install download. All plugins are latest versions. The session is stored on a seperate SSD internal drive. After all I have done, the errors still come up. Nothing is running in the background according to Activity Monitor. I have adjusted the Playback Engine settings and nothing helps. H/W Buffer Size 1024. 12 for Host Processors instead

of 16, Long for Delay Compensation, 80% CPU (I've tried 70 - 99). The DAE Playback Buffer (disk buffer) settings are Level 2, Cache Normal. The Plug-In Streaming Buffer is Level 0. What could be causing this problem. It never happened in PT 8. Thank you all in advance. Mike __________________ Still working. I tried to import the session again but still, the memory error happens. There was a thread on here that someone posted which stated to hold down "N" on Pro Tool
the "low memory error" first. This is a real PITA.Pro Tools has some sort of pro tools cpu usage memory leak and comes up with errors regularly. Submitted by

Professionals in the audio industry use Pro Tools for editing and recording in films, television and music venues. Depending on the Pro Tools functions you use, the number of plug-ins you https://tapatalk.com/topic/12511-avid-pro-audio-community/379093-pro-tools-is-critically-low-on-memory have, and the number of processors in your computer, you may experience lag time or run low on memory. Here are some steps to use to allocate more memory for Pro Tools tasks. Steps 1 Shut down pro tools all other applications. To ensure Pro Tools is running at maximum capacity, close down all other open applications on your computer. This frees up RAM and any other available resources that can be allocated to Pro Tools. 2 Customize your settings in the Playback Engine window. In the Playback Engine window, you can customize settings such as your CPU usage limit, the RTAS (Real Time AudioSuite) processors, the hardware buffer size, and the DAE (Digidesign low on memory Audio Engine) Playback buffer size to free up memory. 3 Open the Playback Engine window. From Pro Tools, click on "Setup" and select Playback Engine. Change the CPU usage limit. In the Playback Engine window, click on the drop-down menu next to CPU Usage Limit in the HD TDM Settings section to modify the amount of memory you are allocating to Pro Tools. Pro Tools will allow you to set allocation at a maximum of 85 percent if your computer only has one processor. Modify the number of RTAS processors. In the Playback Engine window, click on the drop-down menu next to RTAS Processors in the HD TDM Settings section to modify the amount of processors you want to use for Pro Tools allocation. The RTAS Processors setting allows you to allocate more memory for Pro Tools by utilizing your computer's multiple processors, if applicable. This setting works with the CPU Usage Limit setting in that you can set allocation at 99 percent with multiple processors. Change the hardware buffer size. In the Playback Engine window, click on the drop-down menu next to Hardware Buffer Size in the HD TDM Settings section to increase or decrease the buffer size. Large buffer sizes are ideal for editing and mixing processes because they allow the computer more time to process audio samples and help enable your
quick solution here.So within a few minutes of loading up a session it gives me this error before closing down pro-tools and giving me a lengthy error box, specs below...iMac 27-inch, Late 20123.4 GHz Intel Core i732GB 1333MHz DDR31TB SSDOS version: 10.9.5Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2DAW: Pro Tools 10My files are stored on an external HDD (1TB Thunderbolt Lacie) Any geniuses out there who can help me out with this please don't be shy :) ThanksGeorge justinkr 03/23 #2 I don't think that's the problem. If you have all the files in back up I recommend u to fresh install your mac. That will solve your problem. cwsand 03/23 #3 Hi, What version of Pro Tools? gyiakoumi 03/23 #4 Hi, What version of Pro Tools?Hi cwsand, Pro Tools 10.3.10Thanks George gyiakoumi 03/23 #5 I don't think that's the problem. If you have all the files in back up I recommend u to fresh install your mac. That will solve your problem.Hi justinkr,I'd like to avoid this for now but I guess it's an option. The reason is my iMac has only recently been formatted. I took it into a shop for a hard drive replacement only a month ago so the internal SSD is still relatively new, as is the 32GB ram (they were installed on the same day). I have no data on the mac at all, only applications. Also when I run Pro Tools I make sure no other apps are running...Thanks George suicune 03/23 #6 Hi GeorgeYour problem lies here:[PS] May also be worth mentioning some plugins I am using in the session: NI Kontakt, Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0, various waves (SSLChannel, Trueverb, Delay, Element 2.0)Superior and Kontakt can both be highly RAM intensive depending on how many samples you have loaded. Now I know what you're thinking - I have 32GB, but you've probably missed a crucial bit of info being fairly new to the forums. PT10 is a 32-bit application - it cannot address more than 4GB of RAM and frankly starts to get a bit flaky long before that. So here are a few possible short and long-term solutions for you respectively:Short term:1 Check your session for any plugins you aren't using at all and remove them 2 Switch superior to using 16-bit samples 3 Unload any drum kit elements you are not using 4 Try enabling Kontakt's memory serve
