When I click on Get Updates, it displays that files are being downloaded and copied, but QB does not get updated and the error message continues to appear. The R7 installation fails and the roll back returns QB to R6. If I click on that, it tells me to go to a web address (quickbooks.com/support/update.html) that appears to talk about installing Release 7 of QB 2016. I already have v7 - .123, so I'm not sure what next. All the searching in QB about this error seems to talk about it quickbooks update being related to payroll, and we do not have payroll activated on our system ...??? Also, the previous postings are from at least 2 years or more old.I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I should be doing with this error message. I haven't been stopped from entering data or using QB, but .... This error can be resolved by turning off the User Account Control (UAC) in Windows. That error is linked to payroll. You usually got this error if you update the payroll tax table.
