the CD drive to boot from. But when I tried to boot from the Recovery CD that came with the laptop, I can't get anywhere. I managed to see the C drive and the D partition, but I can't actually do anything with them. I've gone into the Diagnostics and got it to do all the tests, but again I got nowhere. Is there anything at all I could try to get it to boot? If the hard drive is dead, is there any way of at least rescuing all my files from it before replacing it with a new one? Huge thanks in advance for any advice offered. Any help would be very gratefully received...I'm tearing my hair out! cathrin View Public Profile Find More Posts by cathrin Please sign in or register to remove this advertisement. 24-03-2010, 13:14 #2 max99 Forum Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Posts: 8,817 This is exactly why you're supposed to make backups.
