Error" message when looking at pictures on camera Sign in to follow this Followers 0 "Read Error" message when looking at pictures on camera Started by thisisatypo, March 2, 2014 15 posts in this topic thisisatypo 2 posts Posted March 2, 2014 HI All, I just bought the X-E1 camera and have already formatted the sd card and updated the firmware. However, the other night I popped the http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/ServiceSupportProductContent.do?dbid=881722&prodcat=880005&sscucatid=664277 sd card into my computer and deleted some photos/saved some on my computer. Now when I look at photos on my camera, after a certain point I will get a "Read Error" Message and I can't see any of the photos. But if I click the arrow the other way I can see photos again. It only happens when I reach a certain part in the series of photos and always after the same photo. I'm very new to all of this, does anyone know http://www.fujixseries.com/forums/topic/6507-read-error-message-when-looking-at-pictures-on-camera/ what happening? PLEASE HELP.
 cscamp20 15 posts Posted March 2, 2014 New to using an sd card or using a camera? J/k. Sounds like your sd card is bad or about to go bad. Did you try the card in another device? Another camera or a computer to see if you get a read error as well? Save all your pictures in your computer and reformat your sd card again
 thisisatypo 2 posts Posted March 2, 2014 But I just bought this SD card along with the camera... I'm basically new to everything haha. If you can do that What is the make and model and capacity of the card? What is the computers OS? Are you shooting RAW or jpeg or both? That is enough top at least start with.
 sweeze 572 posts Posted March 2, 2014 What is the computers OS? ^^^ I usually suspect this is related to an OS X user having .DS_Store and .Trash files/directories on the card and the camera losing its cool. Tonight I was viewing photographs taken on an SD card and I was looking at them https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2528178 in the camera's LCD screen. I was scrolling through them and suddenly got a message saying "?Read Error" and I was unable to view any more photographs other than by going back the way I had come and seeing the same photos again in reverse order. I took the card out of the camera, put it into the SD Card reader and put it into my PC. All the photos on the card were there and I could open any read error of them, even the one where I had reached when I got the error message. I put the card back into the camera and did a bit more scrolling when I got the same message again but this time at a different photograph. Once again I checked via the PC and everything was fine. When I looked at the manual it says that there are two similar messages that you can get. These are "Read Error" and "?Read Error". For the first card read error one, it suggests wiping the contact area of the card with a dry cloth and possibly reformatting the card and if it still continues, replace the card. For the second message, which is the one I'm getting, it says "Contact your Fujifilm Dealer". However, the camera was bought from an on-line store so going back to the supplier is not an option. All the photographs on the SD card were taken using my new camera and the SD card was bought at the same time as the camera as part of a package from the same supplierHas anyone else had this "?Read Error" message and do they have any suggestions? Thanks. So if the problem emerged right after using the card in the PC, that may be the issue. This woudl be consistent with the camera NOT being able to read the images, while the PC has no problems. If thats the case, format the card in the camera, and use the write protect switch when its outside the camera. On the other hand you have a trust issue: is this
