Fuji X100 Read Error
"Read Error" message when looking at pictures on camera Started by thisisatypo, March 2, 2014 15 posts in this topic thisisatypo 2 posts Posted March 2, 2014 HI All, I just bought the X-E1 camera and have already http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/ServiceSupportProductContent.do?dbid=881722&prodcat=880005&sscucatid=664277 formatted the sd card and updated the firmware. However, the other night I popped the sd card into my computer and deleted some photos/saved some on my computer. Now when I look at photos on my camera, after a certain point I will get a "Read Error" Message and I can't see any of the photos. But if I click the arrow the other way I can see photos again. It only happens when I reach a certain http://www.fujixseries.com/forums/topic/6507-read-error-message-when-looking-at-pictures-on-camera/ part in the series of photos and always after the same photo. I'm very new to all of this, does anyone know what happening? PLEASE HELP.
 cscamp20 15 posts Posted March 2, 2014 New to using an sd card or using a camera? J/k. Sounds like your sd card is bad or about to go bad. Did you try the card in another device? Another camera or a computer to see if you get a read error as well? Save all your pictures in your computer and reformat your sd card again
 thisisatypo 2 posts Posted March 2, 2014 But I just bought this SD card along with the camera... I'm basically new to everything haha. If you can do that What is the make and model and capacity of the card? What is the computers OS? Are you shooting RAW or jpeg or both? That is enough top at least start with. X100T, and X70 > Medium Format Fuji Announced! Dismiss Notice Memory Card error anyone? Discussion in 'X100, X100S, X100T, and X70' started by 5onny, Dec 18, 2014. Never https://forums.techguy.org/threads/fuji-finepix-memory-card-problem.639947/ happened with the most recent x100s also, with the same slot design and more than 13.000 shoots since february: now this evening suddenly red blinking light and the error: fortunately solved by turning the camera off, taking the read error card out and reinserting the card in. But I got scaried because I was shooting and I had already 100 pictures on the card (dual slot ftw btw). So this is my concern, and I really hope it's just the memory card o(r an unlucky coincidence) and not some strange camera defect, because I didn't hit the camera: so anybody got a similar error? 5onny, Dec 18, 2014 #1 JonMo Premium Member Messages: 362 Likes fujifilm card error Received: 155 Location: Canada -Return to Top- Not on the fuji but have had it in the past with SD cards. A little burnishing or oxidation on the SD contacts. Never with a CF card. Some times a little smear on the contact where it can't make a good connection. I make sure the card is empty and clean each contact separately. Hope that helps JonMo, Dec 18, 2014 #2 David Schneider Premium Member Messages: 2,083 Likes Received: 674 Location: NJ, USA -Return to Top- Seems like camera had a connection problem with the sd card and told you about. You fixed the connection problem by re-inserting. All good. David Schneider, Dec 18, 2014 #3 Sailfish82 Member Messages: 63 Likes Received: 14 Location: Stuart, FL -Return to Top- Per a previous post, will have an occasional card read error if the card is inserted into the computer or a card reader without locking the card first. This seems to be especially true if you import to Lightroom, and especially if you perform any develop manipulations in Lightroom while the card is still in the computer. Lightroom installs a sidecar file on the SD card that the camera cannot read. Locking the card only takes a second; and, after starting this process, have never had another card read error. Just remember to unlock the car

Having just returned from Cuba with loads of holiday pics on my Camera including a pic of the largest ever sea fish that i've caught. I've just turned on my camera to discover a message saying Card not Initialized. According to the Camera handbook, it could mean that the memory card contacts need cleaning (Tried that) or that it requires reformatting. I'm unable to find any info in the handbook on how to do this. The card is a 128meg Fuji Finepix type given to me by a friend to replace the 64meg model that came with the camera. When I took the photos, they were displaying & storing OK on the camera & all that I have done to the card is to delete a few pics that my friend left on there. Can anyone advise me if it's possible to retrieve these photo's please? My Camera model is a Fuji Finepix A360 Greenheart, Oct 18, 2007 #1 Sponsor SB305 Joined: Sep 20, 2007 Messages: 833 I have an old A345. The manual , as expected, states: "Initialize (format) the xD-Picture card for use with the camera....initializing the xD- Picture Card erases all the frames (files), including protected frames..." So I assume that reformatting is the last thing you'd want to do. Have you tried connecting the camera to your PC via USB just in case the PC might still be able to read it? If that doesn't work, consult the Fujifilm website. SB305, Oct 18, 2007 #2 rsmorrill Joined: Nov 16, 2007 Messages: 2 I have the same problem with my Fujifilm FinePix F20! Did you ever figure anything out, or did you end up having to format the card and lose all your pictures? I have 2 months worth of pictures of my 5 month old baby, so I really want to find a way to save them! rsmorrill, Nov 16, 2007 #3 yacomom2 Joined: Nov 25, 2007 Messages: 1 I have a Fujifilm FinePix A340 digital camera. Every time I turn it on, it says "CARD ERROR". I've tried reformatting, did not work. Tried putting in new picture card, camera is still saying "CARD ERROR" I've emailed Fuji and I have tried their directions and got nothing. Do I need to get some reformatting card? What else can I
