Bios Disk Read Error At Sector 00000011
Hi allI've been using my dell mini 10v OsX install happily with the normal quirks, but fine. Then one day, spinning beachball of death. Cold shut down. And now it won't start. After the Dell screen but virtualbox passthrough before the OsX startup it goes into blinking cursor on Black screen, and then eventually an endlessly repeating EBIOS error message.(I was running 10.6.7 with the NBI 20100616212351)Strangely, I cannot get it to boot to my install USB drive either (same EBIOS error; and yes I enabled USB legacy support). But I CAN boot to my Ubuntu USB stick. Yay Ubuntu!!So I was able to mount my hard drive in Ubuntu, but bios disk read error at sector hackintosh some of the files are either unaccessible or corrupted, mainly -it seems- files I had recently been working on, which is a bummer since those are exactly the ones that I hadn't backed up yet.So...what I would like to do is be able to somehow repair what appears to be a hooped bootloader so that I can access my hard drive, get everything off, reformat and reinstall - maybe with ##### next time.I ran gparted and I can see all of my partitions. I put a screenshot of what gparted sees at this link:http://www.stanford....lem/gparted.jpgThe options I can think of in gparted are:1) running "check" on the first partition (the boot)2) "manage flags" on the OsX partition (sda2)...but I don't know what exactly I would do - i.e. if there is an appropriate flag to add, etc.Or maybe there are other terminal commands I could try?...or...?Any suggestions would be most appreciatedThanksbug Back to top #2 Gringo Vermelho Posted 29 February 2012 - 01:43 AM Gringo Vermelho The Jan Bird fix Supervisors 6,224 posts Gender:Male Location:Brazil Boot from an OS X installation DVD (a hacked distro is fine) so that you can run Disk Utility and repair the filesystem. hardware. Personally, I had to test if I can release my application to Mac virtualbox snow leopard users. However, I do like very much to use my Xubuntu 12.04 installation for developing, and I am not willing to install Mac OS X "natively" in my computer, so like many people, I have installed Snow Leopard in a VirtualBox 4.2 virtual machine. What do you need? Mac OS X – I suggest http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/276561-ebios-read-error/ to buy an original retail DVD of Snow Leopard, but for testing, you can google for Snow Leopard retail DVD torrent. There are some modifications out there by the Hazard team, but I have had so much trouble during installations that I suggest the original (or a copy) of the retail DVD’s. iBoot – for booting up Snow Leopard on the Virtual machine, since the retail DVD iso’s are http://joaoventura.net/blog/2012/osx-virtualbox42/ not capable of booting themselves. You can download it from here (tonymacx86 forum – you have to register). If you have a Pentium 4 or another single core processor, I think you have to download “iBoot Legacy 2.7.2″. For Core 2 Duo Intel processors you should download “iBoot 3.3.0″. If you have an Intel i3, i5 or i7 CPU, download “iBoot Ivy Bridge 1.0.0″ or latest. MultiBeast for Snow Leopard – to install the boot loader inside the virtual machine (i.e., inside Mac OS X) and more addons. Get MultiBeast also from tonymacx86 forum here. Mac OS X 10.6.8 update combo v1.1 – if your retail DVD is not the latest version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8), download the combo file directly from Apple. It is a big file, about 1.1GB Legacy 10.6.8 kernel – the same as previous, if you are updating to 10.6.8 you will need a 10.6.8 kernel. You can find it at osx86.net forum, although you will have to be registered in the forum to download it. 1. Create Virtual machine Open your VirtualBox installation and click on New. It will ask for a name and Operating System type. Name it as you want and select type “Mac OS X”

A Hackintosh Save You? [UPDATED] How to dual-boot Windows and OS X on separate disks Tabs HOME INSTALLATION GUIDES HARDWARE RECOMMENDATIONS ADDITIONAL RESOURCES WHAT IS HACKINTOSHING? Ads Below Tabs February 8, 2012 How to install a Snow Leopard Hackintosh in Virtualbox We've already covered how to run a Mac OS Xvirtual machine with VMWare Fusionon your Hackintosh, but that tutorial won't do you much good if you haven't installed Mac OS X on your PC yet. If you need help deciding whether to make that leap of faith, then you can try installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Virtualbox, instead. Virtualbox is a virtualization suite that works for Windows-- installing Mac OS X on a virtual machine in Windows before doing it on your actual computer is great practice, and it gives you a chance to determine whether you'd actually prefer OS X over Windows. Read past the break for a full tutorial. NOTE: The following guide is for installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard only, because it uses the same method that I use for my standard Snow Leopard installation guide. For this virtual machine, we're going to use Virtualbox, which is a free and open-source virtualization suite. Installing OS X with Virtualbox on Windows is more difficult than doing it with VMWare Fusion in OS X, because Windows virtualization programs do not "officially" support Mac OS X. You will not be able to enable full graphics support, for instance. This tutorial should only be taken as a proof of concept. Computer Requirements You need a computer with Windows to run Mac OSX on Windows (of course). You will need at least 4 GB of RAM and a dual-core (two core) processor or better. Personally, the computer I was using for this had a 4-core processor and 12 GB RAM, which is way more than enough. You also need about 10 GB of unused hard drive space. Right click on "My Computer" on
