Every time I restart I get the same message. Does anyone have any ideas about the steps I should take in an attempt to fix this problem. I have searched the forums but am a bit lost about some a disk error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart of the suggestions. Any simply explained suugested solutions would be appreciated. Hi Found the original Windows XP installation disk, turned the PC on, inserted the CD a number of times but all I get is the same message "Disk read error occurred press Ctl+Alt =Del to restart" Tried rebooting, installing CD, but only get the same message. Did a chkdsk and all is ok.Did a fixboot via the recovery console. It replaced the boot record.Checked boot.ini. If you are running 10.6.5 as indicated on your profile, you are in the wrong place. To boot that system, you will need the install DVD or USB stick (if no DVD drive). Whatever you removed damaged the system to the point that it will not boot. You must reinstall the OS from the Install DVD. See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3910You won't need to erase, but you will need the install media. I don't have the DVD. It can't play CDs anyways cause there's no slot. Idk it's cause I needed memory so I trashed some files. Then I turned off the laptop and restarted it it says a disk read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart.
