How To Make A Ps2 Read A Disc
errors, so i have decided to post this to help everybody. Well first off before you go on crazy rampage and crack it open or buy a new ps2 do 3 simple things:Most of the time this problem is due https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/75324/Disk+read+error to dirty disk, it is amazing that some disk can work perfectly with thousands of scratches and smudges, but somthing as little as a finger print or some dust can bring up that awful disk error. *some tips on cleaning disk* - first of all use a clean cloth(duh  )preferably a disk cleaning cloth. -clean from the inside out instraight lines. -be carful what you clean with best stick to retail cleaners for cds (i use windex but its not recomended) http://www.gamespot.com/forums/games-discussion-1000000/playstation-2-disk-read-error-solutions-23572005/ -the most important thing is to clean softly do not rub because you can kind of wax the cd if you rub too hard. -the safest path is just to go buy a cd cleaner at walmart If that does not work then a simple solution is to turn the PlayStation on its left side. Trust me i know it sounds stupid but it works wonders:P. *make sure you have it prorerly suported the last thing you need is your ps2 to take a dive of the game table.*If those 2 dont work then you could try cleaning you lens by using a cleaning disk like this oneAnother solution is to open you disk tray then turn it off and spray the heck out of the tray and the slot in the ps2. (complements to jekkie) *Some times the compresed air cans will shoot out water (ice too if turn it upside down :P ) so keep your ps2 turned off:) if this does happen just leave it off for about 48 hours and air it out with a fan or a hair dryer on cold on it)*Ok one more thing before you try opening ti up you can call sony and have them fix it. If your warranty is expired, Sony will not fix it for free (they did for a short time, but not anymore) - $45 to fix it or $75 for a refurbished PS2. Phone # for so

Gameguy360 is online now How do http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/my-ps2-slim-wont-read-any-discs-any-help-please.714053/ I fix a slim PS2 with a disc read error Resolved Question: I acquired a malfunctioning slim PS2 (70000 series). The disc motor is not spinning discs properly. I know for a fact that the disc motor read error is malfunctioning because initially, the discs would not spin at all. When I realized that, I unscrewed the unit and I disconnected the disc motor. I just blew on it a few times (even though there wasn’t any dust on it). When I reconnected the disc motor, it started spinning games, but a reading error still kept coming up every time I tried to put a game. In order to make sure I disc read error could see the disc spinning, I kept the lid off and held the two sensors down so that the laser would try to read the discs. What I noticed is that the disc was spinning fast at first (fast enough that you just saw a blur of color on the disc), but then it would start to slow down enough that you could start to make out the design on the disc. Can someone help me out here? If I buy a new 70000 series PS2 slim disc motor, will my problem be solved 100%? Or is there something else that I need to consider looking into as well? Would it be possible to fix the existing disc motor so that it functions properly? Or is it pretty much junk that has to be replaced? What do I need to do in order to fix this console? Anyway onto the point, I got a ps2 slim on my 9th birthday (i think...if it was my 9th B-Day then that was 4 years ago) and for about 3 years it was working properly.....i mean it fell a few times and stuff but it would still work. now every time i put in a game or a movie or anything else the playstation would play, it would read the disk for ages and then it would say that the disc could not be read...i found out that the ribbon (the one connected to the laser A.K.A the disc reader) was ripped out by my baby sister. so i replaced it and it still didnt help....ive tried taping the disc break like it sez in another topic, and that hasnt helped. i think the laser just might need replacing, but i wasnt sure so i came here...any help? BTW it started not reading discs around november last year ( i think....) thanks in advance! P.S. i am using my PS2 flat at the moment and its so old and used that it wont even play movies or music! lol! and it hardly reads games anymore...so...uh...yeah...id really apreciate it if someone helped with my problem here... thecursor, Dec 29, 2009 #1 thecursor Member Joined: Dec 29, 2009 Messages: 27 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 any help? thecursor, Dec 31, 2009 #2 smokyrain Senior member Joined: Sep 15, 2006 Messages: 5,197 Likes Received: 1 Trophy Points: 118 If your disc spins ok, doesn't make any grinding or clicking noise then I would guess it is just your laser that needs replacing. Your laser may just be dirty, you can try cleaning the laser CAREFULLY with a qtip and some rubbing alcohol. Dampen the swab in the alcohol [make sure it's not too wet] and gently clean the laser in a circular motion. Use the dry side of the swab to then dry the laser off in the same motion. If you still get DRE (disc read error) then you will have to replace the laser. smokyrain, Dec 31, 2009 #3 thecursor Member Joined: Dec 29, 2009 Messages: 27 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 l...when the disc starts spinning it does kind of do a (in essence) grinding noose and then it stops and r
