Read Error Rate 1
[S.M.A.R.T.] Raw Read Error Rate Failed? Hello guys, thanks for watching this post. So I raw read error rate meaning just wake up and the OS told me that the HD was having some issues. So I did a Chkdsk on Windows.. and raw read error rate seagate there was no problem. Then I booted Ubuntu and saw that SMART found a problem. And then I saw this. (Look at ID:01 - Raw Read Error Rate) Code: HD Tune: SAMSUNG HD502HJ Health ID Current Worst ThresholdData http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2264625/raw-read-error-rate-failure-pending-sectors.html Status (01) Raw Read Error Rate 1 1 51 33031 Failed (02) Throughput Performance 252 252 0 0 Ok (03) Spin Up Time 83 80 25 5238 Ok (04) Start/Stop Count 100 100 0 492 Ok (05) Reallocated Sector Count 252 252 10 0 Ok (07) Seek Error Rate 252 252 51 0 Ok (08) Seek Time Performance 252 252 15 0 Ok (09) Power On Hours Count 100 100 0 1556 Ok (0A) Spin Retry http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/troubleshooting/55147-s-m-r-t-raw-read-error-rate-failed.html Count 252 252 51 0 Ok (0B) Calibration Retry Count 252 252 0 0 Ok (0C) Power Cycle Count 100 100 0 504 Ok (BF) G-sense Error Rate 100 100 0 1 Ok (C0) Power Off Retract Count 252 252 0 0 Ok (C2) Temperature 64 56 0 917538 Ok (C3) Hardware ECC Recovered 100 100 0 0 Ok (C4) Reallocated Event Count 252 252 0 0 Ok (C5) Current Pending Sector 99 99 0 72 Ok (C6) Offline Uncorrectable 252 252 0 0 Ok (C7) Ultra DMA CRC Error Count 100 100 0 1 Ok (C8) Write Error Rate 100 100 0 28 Ok (DF) Load/Unload Retry Count 252 252 0 0 Ok (E1) Load/Unload Cycle Count 100 100 0 507 Ok Power On Time : 1556 Health Status : Failed I googled some other SMART HD examples from other HDs and for Raw Read Error Rate, the "worst" value is between 100 or 200, something like that.. Why mine is 1? Maybe it's not that bad? Actually I'm on Windows right now, of course SMART is still telling me that there is a problem but i haven't lost any file.. I'm worried to not be able to boot in the future. Maybe its a problem from SMART? What do you recommend guys? Thanks for the patience. c ya #2 (permalink) June 30, 2012

After a bit of hunting on the internet, I found Ubuntu's Disk Utility in the System menu and ran the long SMART diagnostics from this. However, since the documentation for Disk read error rate Utility is very poor (palimpsest?), I'm not sure how to interpret the results: For example, the Read Error Rate is over 50 million (!), yet the Assessment is rated "Good". So would someone mind explaining to me how to interpret the results of these tests (especially the Normalized, Worst, Threshold and Value numbers)? And maybe tell me what they think of the results I got for my HDD? My disk has 676 power cycles, was powered on 285 days, and has 193M errors. Compared to mine, your disk has way too much error, but I'm just speculating here. Anyways I just got worried myself o.O –danizmax Jan 7 '11 at 8:47 Yip - both numbers are the same! –Marty Jan 7 '11 at 16:32 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 32 down vote accepted You have a good description of how SMART works on the wikipedia. But a quick intro: Value: This is the raw value that the controller reports. Usually it's an easy to understand value (like power on hours or temperature), but sometimes i

Windows 7 says "windows detected a hard disk problem" and listed my Corsair Neutron SSD SCSI device. I Downloaded Corsair SSD Toolbox. SMART status says Raw Read Error Rate: Current value 4 (note: earlier today this value was 1), Threshold 6, Raw Value 0, Worst 1, Status FAILED. The only other item in the SMART list that wasn't green is: E7 SSD Life Left, Current value 253, Threshold 10, Raw Value and Worst are blank. Status OK Disk information firmware M306 temp 31C Total host reads: 4.4 TB Total host writes: 1.6 TB This SSD was purchased in July 2013. It is my C drive. All of my data is stored on other drives. The only thing on C are installed programs and windows 7. Note: when I initially installed SSD Toolbox, it took over 15 minutes for the program to open (which is unlike anything else running on my PC). After retrieving the data above, I attempted to refresh the data in the SSD Toolbox (clicked the refresh button) and got the Blue Screen of Death. I don't think I want to run this tool again. darkwings View Public Profile Find all posts by darkwings #2 01-03-2014, 03:35 AM Toasted Registered User Toasted's PC Specs Toasted's PC Specs MotherboardGA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 ProcessorIntel Core i7 4770K Memory16GB Corsair Vengeance Video Card # 1Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Hard Drive # 1Corsair LX 512GB Power SupplyAX760i CaseGraphite 760T Operating System10 Pro X64 Join Date: Apr 2011 Posts: 16,069 POST ID # = 690599 Reputation: 93 Sounds like the SSD may be failing if it took over 15 minutes to open the SSD toolbox.
