The computer would not boot and I then got a INT13 / 02h Read error (AX = 0101, DL = 80). I then removed the second hard drive and attempted to boot the first. Still got the same message. Then after a couple of more attempts I noticed that the during the startup that the Samsung SV...... has changed to a Qamsunz """"". Dismayed by this I tried a clean install on a hard-drive I knew which was working fine (a slave from another computer). I still got the exact same read error. I tried a third hard-drive for a clean install and still got the same error message. Sometimes if I am lucky enough t

The DL=80 indicates it is attempting to read from the first hard drive. Hope this helps. Dilbert Ars Legatus Legionis Tribus: On a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Then do chkdsk to see if there's bad sectors.Or run manufacturer's diagnostic app, usually a boot floppy. Perform a low level format and check for bad sectors.Long format can mark bad sectors as bad and unusable, but bad sectors tend to spread. Don't use the HD if it has bad sectors. Yeah it will work at first (after a long format) but you'll be in the same boat in a couple of days/weeks. 3 posts Ars Technica > Forums > Operating Systems & Software > Windows Technical Mojo Jump to: Select a forum ------------------ Hardware & Tweaking Audio/Visual Club Case and Cooling Fetish CPU & Motherboard Technologia Mobile Computing Outpost Networking Matrix Ot
