Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object Author(s) Dev Ashish (Q) I'm getting https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/189366 the mentioned error in Access 97 when I try to use, for example, the AutoFormat wizard or when using CurrentDB function. How can I fix http://access.mvps.org/access/bugs/bugs0007.htm this? (A) The Dao350.dll file was not properly registered when Microsoft Access 97 was installed. Download RegSvr32.Exe. and then issue the command RegSvr32 C:\progra~1\common~1\micros~1\dao\dao350.dll from Start/Run under Win95/NT 4.0. Most of the times, that usually solves the problem. If that doesn't help, then uninstall Office, remove DAO folder under Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft\office, and then re-instal Office 97. © 1998-2010, Dev Ashish & Arvin Meyer, All rights reserved. I'd like to wave my magic wand, but oh well... Try this: Open Access, create a new, blank mdb file. Close and reopen this blank file, to make sure you don't have some sort of Access installation trouble. Then using File > Get External Data > Import, point to your "bad" mdb file in the dialog, runtime error 429 then select all objects on all tabs. See what happens; if it imports correctly, you should be in business. If not, it may be that the old file needs repair, and you should not try opening it, but rather compact and repair. Keep us posted. Go to another computer in the office and see if you can open the database from there. If you can, there is a component that has been installed in the local copy of Access that needs to be removed. In my case I inadvertantly added a control for ICQ.....duh Rockn, Aug 23, 2001 #3 $horty Joined: Nov 10, 1999 Messages: 69 hi, You have an activeX control in that database that needs to be registered with that copy of access. It could be something obvious, like a calender control, clock, something on a form, or something less obvious like a progress bar or whatever. If you open access (i am assuming 97) & go to tools -> active x controls.. All the ones in the box are registered to your copy of ac
