Run time error 7866Office 2003MS Excel is linked to an MS Access database which is stored locally on the computer hard drive. The database won't open. Error is 'MS Access can't open database because it's missing or opened exclusively by another user.'The database can be opened if it's just double clicked. It opens in Access. The file icon in explorer also has access vba runtime a lock symbol on it.I've Googled this eveything I find seems to be if the database is on a server. This one is on the local drive and can't possibly be opened by anyone else.Help please? · actions · 2012-Feb-17 8:03 am · RWildThem Or UsPremium Memberjoin:2003-09-15Cary, NC RWild Premium Member 2012-Feb-17 2:43 pm Have you tried rebooting? Sometimes files do not get closed properly and Excel or Access will think the files are locked.Edit: Also found this about "referencing" the file »www.xtremevbtalk.com/sho ··· t=219777 · actions · 2012-Feb-17 2:43 pm · Locutus65Why bother?Premium Memberjoin:2001-05-24Houston, TXkudos:2 Locutus65 Premium Member 2012-Feb-17 3:12 pm Yes, rebooted multiple times. I'll have a look at that link. · actions · 2012-Feb-17 3:12 pm · Locutus65 Locutus65 Premium Member 2012-Feb-17 3:13 pm Also, I have found that this is an MDE file not an MDB. Google searches say it was possibly compiled and locked but the person who is trying to use the file say others have the same file from the same source saved on their C drive and it works fine. Their files also show the lock symbol. · actions · 2012-Feb-17

The script I have adapted is: Sub MailMerge2() Dim strPath As String Dim objAccess As Access.Application Dim strExcelPath As String strPath = "C:...Documents\MailMerge2" strExcelPath = Application.ActiveWorkbook.FullName Set objAccess = New Access.Application Call objAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase(strPath) objAccess.Visible = True Call objAccess.DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet(acImport, _ acSpreadsheetTypeExcel8, "MyTable1", strExcelPath, _ True, "A1:D11") End Sub However, running this gives me an error saying "Run-time error: 7866, Microsoft Access can't open the database because it is missing, or opened exclusively by another user, or it is not an ADP file." Any suggestions on which of these the problem is? I'm fairly new to Access, and haven't quite got the hang of the terminology yet.
