Create any Android project from the template. 2. Build the project (debug or release). EXPECTED RESULTS: The project should be built/compiled without errors. OBSERVED RESULTS: When aapt.exe is called by gradle merge resource task ("mergeDebugResources") to proccess PNG images (from the support libraries, for example), after crunching about 60 https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=152773 single files, the Visual C++ runtime error R6016 occurs and aapt.exe fails with error code 255. After rebooting Windows and starting Android Studio without other programs in parallel, problem stoped. Simply restarting Android Studio didn't solve the problem. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I was using several programs in parallel when the problem happened: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Windows Media Player, Windows Explorer, Google Chrome (Normal and Incognito) with several tabs opened. Memory usage was below 8GB, but high. The problem seems to be related to the way aapt.exe allocates TLS (thread local storage) through "TLSAlloc()". I have simply shut down Chrome and restarted it, and had haven’t had any further problems beyond having it pop up one other time. Apparently Windows Media Player can also cause this to happen. One suggestion I’ve seen is to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player, but I haven’t tried this. Another sugge
