However, it displays the message without breaking into the debugger before. If I break at the time of the message, the callstack is not very useful. Is there a trick to break-in on Visual Basic 4 applications at the time the problem occurs? Problem FAQ: Can you run it in the IDE? Yes I can and I can probably fix the bug when I runtime error 5 do that. However, I'd like to get some more information at the time the end user runs the application so that I don't need to be able to reproduce it. What do you want to do in case you find the cause of the error? Well, it depends on the type of the error. Maybe I can fix it, maybe I can't. Usually I get some very helpful information out of WinDbg. When does the error occur? It occurs reproducibly when the user presses a close button on a form. What does the application do? Oh, that's a good question. I don't exactly know. It uses RS232 communication but it's not yet involved. Do you know anything about the data the user can enter? I almost know nothing about it. In this particular case, it's not necessary to enter data. vb6 windbg share|improve this question edited Apr 17 '14 at 8:18 asked Apr 17 '14 at 6:50 Thomas Weller 14.1k62874 can you run it in the IDE? I have noticed that on some older sytems where I run my VB6 created executables, it gives me this "Runtime Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument". This doesn't seem to be a problem on WinXP, but on some Win2000 systems I receive this. I have also run all the recent VB6 service packs. Anybody have any suggestions or hints? Thanks. Without knowing the line of code causing the error, everything will be pure speculation. Do you have a Win2000 machine available for your use on which you can load VB6, and run your program from the IDE to see if you can recreate the problem? Well the development environment for VB6 is actually on a Win2000 system as well, and unfortunately there I cannot recreate the error. I suspect that because I have VB6 installed on the development system, it must have some dlls or whatever else installed that allows for my created program to run perfectly. I was just hoping if someone else r
