Dsupdate.exe Error Alienware
by Clark.Kent on 27 Apr 2012 22:26 Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I have encountered a runtime error message as dsupdate.exe c++ runtime error follows: "Program:...Data Safe Local Back Up\Components\DSUpdate\DSUpdate.exe. Abnormal program termination." That's pretty much it, no error code or numbers. I go to the file/folder for DSUpdate.exe, open to follow the prompts as suggested from datasafe local backup a community post I read, and get the above message. It also suggested I create recovery media for a work around, which I had already done. Any other suggestions? This was a window that popped up titled; Runtime error, Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library, with the above error message in the window. The only solution for this issue is to uninstall datasafe via the windows control panel and then reinstall. The installer is available here Download the Basic Version of DSLClick here to download. I had issues uninstalling datasafe via the windows control panel so I had to use Revo Uninstaller. But it's working fine now once that I've reinstalled datasafe again. recently. i'm not sure if this is a windows or application problem but often after booting i get a dialog box that says the following: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! C++ Runtime Library window would open with the following displayed: Runtime Error! Program: C:\... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's http://support.moonpoint.com/os/windows/software/Dell_Stage/ support team for more information. [ OK ] Since the program wasn't identified, with only "C:\..." appearing, it was not immediately obvious what program was causing the problem. So I brought up the Windows Task Manager to determine what program might be causing the window to appear. Under the Aplications tab, I saw a task named "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library", so I knew that was the relevant task. I runtime error right-clicked on the task and chose "Go To Process". I could then see that the process had a description of "Dell Stage" and was located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Stage\Dell Stage\ directory and the file was stage_primary.exe. The file has a SHA256 checksum of 17ea6bdfb73f7af14c8d691390fe5cf6448e0a1350a59372251b65eedb2d0b90 and when I checked it with VirusTotal, none of the 56 antivirus programs with which it scanned the program found any issue with the datasafe local backup program (VirusTotal report) I clicked on the OK button in the window to close the window. When I did the same window reappeared. I closed it as well. There was a "Check for Updates" shortcut in the directory where the program was located. I clicked on it to check for an update to the software, which opened a "Windows Installer" window, which then opened a "Dell Stage Update" window. Before proceeding with the installation of the software, I checked for information on what features the software might provide. At Dell Stage ???, I found that the software comes preinstalled on some Dell computers, which I thought was likely the case for this computer. At Should I Remove It?: Helping you decide which programs to purge, I found details for the software. What is Dell Stage?
