I did it by using the wizard to link one table (via ODBC). Then, I wrote a little utility that renames the Access linked tables, hides them, and then creates a new Tabledef entry with the old Access linked table name and a new link to my SQL Server database. I got it working fine by using the exact string from the tabledef.connect property of the one table https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/9bf22212-450f-4b4c-ad6b-38c195457922/odbc-access-to-sql-server-a2007?forum=accessdev I had earlier linked for the connect property of the newly-linked tables. I wrote it so it's easily reversible (I set up a second proc that deletes any links to SQL Server, and then renames and unhides all tables I renamed and hid before...) I then asked one of my clients to fire up a copy of the exact ACCDB that worked, only on their desktop and using their NT login. I had previously set up an NT group on SQL Server that included this client.... Failed. Error 3151. So, I used my client's computer and that same ACCDB with the wizard to create a single linked table (as I had done before....) Worked fine. Did find out the client had a different set of ODBC drivers ("SQL Server Native Client", versus "SQL Server Native Client 10.0"), but using the exact connection string she ended up with in that one successful link also failed. Similar error. I want to do this "DSN-less" if possible, since I can't predict what DSNs exist on my client's 20 or so users. If there's a better way, I'm open. Ideas?
