Hi Steve, A Runtime error means there is an error in a third party macro rather than Excel. Try running Excel in Safe Mode. For this go to Start/Run and run the following command: Excel.exe /s Note that there is a space before the forward slash. If everything works fine in Safe Mode, then the problem could be due to an add-in Go to Tools/Add-ins and uncheck all the add-ins. Then start Excel without using the /s switch. If this solves the problem then enable the add-ins one-by-one, restarting Excel each time, to find the offending add-in. If the problem still exists then go to Tools/Options/General and make sure that the 'Alternate Startup file location' is blank. If this does

Steve Conover, Oct 18, 2003 #1 Advertisements Peo Sjoblom Guest Start it with runtime error a switch "C:\program files\microsoft office\office\excel.exe" /s (replace the path with your path and folder names etc keep the quotations) When open uncheck all the add-ins and restart, if you get the same message look in the startup folder and move everything out of there and restart again. If you don't get the message after restarting when you have unchecked the add-ins check them one by one until excel runtime error you get the error again thus finding the culprit.
