Edit:I solved the problem. Thanks for Marco van de Voort. repeat z := z * 10; j := j - 1; until j = 1; I changed this section into this. while j > 1 do begin z := z * 10; j := j - 1; end; runtime-error pascal freepascal share|improve this question edited Dec 3 '13 at 14:25 asked Dec 1 '13 at 18:49 Atılhan Emre DursunoÄŸlu 1314 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted J is always 1 after the for loop. Then in the repeat loop it is decremented (to j=0). Which is unequal to 1, so it decreases once more to -1 till -32768 then it rolls over to 32767 then further 32767 to 1. In summary the repeat is done 65536 +/-1 times. The meaning of the J variable is not clear to me from the code. This can be caused by several problems:1. Deferencing a nil pointer2. Trying to access memory which is out of bounds (for example, calling move with an invalid length). But I got that error when I just try to run native IDE (fp) or when I try to compile simple pascal programm e.g. "hello world' without any variables. The reason somewhere else, I suggest.
