Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error

When I search using Windows Explorer I get the microsoft visual c++ runtime library error windows 7 following error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -- This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I don't know how this happened but under Windows Search Properties>Recovery>"Restart service after:" somehow was changed from 0 to 1. I changed it back to 0 and everything is now back to normal. Please contact the application's support." I can somewhat navigate Windows Explorer but it hangs when trying to open C:. I also get this error sometimes when right-clicking to open the drop down menu. Closing the error window reloads the desktop. Chkdsk scan was clean; SFC returned no errors; message also occurs in Safe Mode; System Restore had no effect. The issue presented around the time that a phishing email was opened in Outlook. I don't know if its related. I did several different AV scans but found nothing but free range malware, PUPs. A Mcafee QuickClean was also run the day before. Mcafee h
