These problems seem to stem from the same source in an errant Microsoft Windows update that isn't compatible with the QuickBooks software. Microsoft Windows Update Problem In 2007, the year runtime error Windows Vista was introduced, a random Windows update caused a series of problems for QuickBooks users in not allowing them to open their company file. That problem led to thousands of QuickBooks users deleting the update from their computers. "AVMTimer:qbw32.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x564000e0" referenced memory at "0x02e74360." The memory could not be read." "Microsoft Windows - QuickBooks has stopped working" The numbers in the error message may differ depending on your computer. Either way, it may mean you have memory (RAM) faults. There are lots of free memory testers available, we use this one: http://www.memtest.org/ Create a boot disk and boot your pc from it - it will run a memory test until you stop it. Let it complete at least one whole 'Pass'. __________________ Joyce Beck joyce@pc-firstaid.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Accounting and bookkeeping support, QuickBooks Pro Advisor Home and small business computer services in Northampton, UK RobJoy View Public Profile Visit RobJoy's homepage!
