Are you using a custom master sharepoint 2010 enterprise license cost page, if so does it error out with out the master page? Second, the Enterprise Search Center is a publishing site and is (generally) provisioned as a root web of a site collection. It has dependencies on Publishing and several other features. If the root web of your site collection is not a publishing web (for example if it is a team site) you will encounter errors. If you need the site to be navigationally under your top site you can create an explicit managed path "/Search" and then create the Enterprise Search Center under that Managed Path. share|improve this answer answered Jun 3 '14 at 14:45 Matthew McDermott 7,1721720 Thanks Matthew. My root site is a team site. So will I not be able to create a Enterprise Search Center? –Sushri Jun 4 '14 at 9:33 Not unless you turn on all the publishing features at the root. I tried to create an Enterprise Search Center within a site collection in SharePoint 2010. But I've received this error message all the time. I've also tried to create a new site collection, but without success. Suddenly I had the idea to try it with SharePoint Designer. And voila, I've got an error message I can work with. So the next step was to enable the Publishing Infrastructure feature. Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site collection features -> SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure and click on "Activate" After this step you can also create the Enterprise Search Center without any error messages 🙂 Tags: Enterprise Searc
