If i download these specific .xlsx files and open them in MS Excel they are opening normally.(I did this just to make sure the files are not corrupt somehow) I have few pointers, 1) It is not user-specific, as its happening to multiple users for same file. 2) It is not File specific, as the file which is giving error, works fine on another environment. 3) It is not Environment specific, as other files in same environment are opening properly. 4) I had made sure that Excel Calculation Services and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application are working(started state). 2010 excel-services share|improve this question asked Oct 14 '14 at 20:32 Amit Tyagi 58611125 Have you tried an iisreset, I had the same issue yesterday and an iisreset helped –user21399 Oct 14 '14 at 21:02 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote We faced a similar issue with random Excel documents working for one, but not for an other person having the same hardware and software installed. We had to install May 2015 CU for Office Web Apps in order to get rid of the issue. If you got a test environment I would give it a try. Here is the link for the CU. Pl

We are able to upload a spreadsheet with the xlsx extension, however, when we attempt to download the same spreadsheet we are getting the following error: Excel An error has occured. Please try again. We can open xls files fine as well as docx and pptx files. sharepoint-2010 microsoft-excel share|improve this question edited Feb 14 '12 at 3:17 Wesley 26.7k760108 asked Oct 8 '10 at excel web access 18:40 Mike Messina 49212 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Which version of SharePoint 2010 are you using? Foundation, Standard, or Enterprise. Can't remember is Std has it, but I know Enterprise has the ability to open XLSX files within the browser window and display the contents (used extensively within my office). The user can then choose to download and edit the file from there. Pretty sure this is the default behaviour when you click a XLSX doc link within a document library. However, you need to configure web viewing properly for it to not error out. Instead of clicking the link, try pulling up the menu for the document item, and select the "Edit in Microsoft Excel" option. If that opens the doc in excel properly, then it's probably a config issue with the "Excel Services Application Web Service Application". Have your SP admins take a look at it within Central Administration and see if they can configure it properly. share|improve this answer answered Apr 1 '11 at 16:29 Evan M. 707716 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. 2010 with Team Foundation Server2010 An SPRequest object was not disposed before the end of thisthread. → Excel Services 2010 "An error has occured, Please tryagain" October 20, 2010 Leave a comment So suddenly the sample Excel Services (SharePoint 2010 BI Site) workbook stopped working. One blog suggested verifying that "Excel Calculation Services" may need to be started. Central Admin had it running and everything looked fine, but I restarted the service just to be sure. After looking at the logs, there were no errors as well. We have a second app server that is also running Excel services and again, everything looked fine. However, when I restarted the service on second app server, everything started working. The moral of the story, stop and restart the Excel Calculation Services on both (any farm server where it's running) for a quick troubleshooting step. This may save you a few gray hairs🙂. ***** Follow up on this tip, it seems that the issue is only temporarily fixed by restarting the service, still researching this issue. Any comments or feedback is appreciated ****** Update: 11/15/2010 Event log indicated unable to write to cache folder, even though app pool account was an Administrator on the box. Ended up re-provisioning a new Excel Services Application, then deleting. This must have updated some kind of provisioning issue during install. All works fine. Like this:Like Loading...
