> Windows 7 Miscellaneous Question 0 Sign in to vote I started this sharing violation xcopy thread a couple of weeks ago and am relaunching it in hopes of getting someone from Microsoft to take this more seriously. I can't edit my xxxxx.html files which reside on Win2003 file server. I use Dreamweaver. I've tried also with notepad, et al and same problem. I never had a problem http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=580834 with XP but now I have this major, major problem. I get this error: A sharing violation occurred while accessing E:\ccc\ddd\M564D.tmp. To summarize. - I've turned off UAC. - removed anti-virus - turned off windows defender, firewall and indexing - checked permissions - this happens using a plain text editor as well Now I've had this problem confirmed by a friend who can't edit .html or https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/a38e522e-1345-4518-9e8c-3dc996a2c997/sharing-violation-error-cant-edit-html-files?forum=w7itprogeneral .htm files over the network and he is using Samba 3.x on a Centos fileserver. This isn't a windows 2003 error then. It's a Windows 7 problem! However, if he opens the file using the UNC path (i.e. \\server\share\foo.html ) then he can edit the file. Interesting eh! He says the error only occurs if the file is opened via Windows Explorer. Can anyone from Microsoft please take a serious look at this and provide a solution??? thx G Thursday, August 19, 2010 10:32 PM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Hi, Based on my research, Sharing Violation occurs because the thumbnail cache which updates the metadata displayed in the Windows Explorer detail panel was locking the file. To resolve it, please turn off the Details Pane in Windows Explorer. Click Organize, click Layout, unselect “Details Panel”. Marcel Olmo Apr 19, 2011 5:42 AM Anybody knows https://community.qlik.com/thread/18570 how could this be possible ?This is a qv file allocated in the https://community.qlikview.com/thread/32482 folder of the qlikview server. As you can see, this is an alert that is prompted when I try to save the document. And this is why it can't be saved on a daily basis (as it was planned in the qlikview server configuration). What I've been trying to solve the issue, is to copy sharing violation the file in another folder. When I save the document, it works fine, and I have the same permissions as the other folder.Any ideas about how this problem could be solved ???Many thanks in advance!!! 21419Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Patrick Laredo Apr 19, 2011 5:52 AM encountered a sharing (in response to Marcel Olmo ) hi Marcel, two ideas to follow up:1. is there a hanging qv.exe process tying up your original file. use Task manager to get rid of any of these.2. If you are on qv 8.5 or above Qlikview generates a SHARED fiel which will have the name of your qlikview doc in upper case followed by the extension .QVW. Windows lists this as a "shared file". Sometimes this can get corrupted and casue the problem you are seeing. Remove the file - a new one will be created the next time a user access the qvw document from their browser.be aware this will remove any user objects if your users are using collaboration.hope this helps. The costumer had opened the qv file in the source path (not server path).Thank you very much.
