I have a couple EM pinball machines and my wife bought me this Video Poker bally s6000 slot machine Machine because the salesman told her it 'just needed a battery....It boots up where I see the backs of 5 cards, but above them is "BAD BATTERY"I don't know much about electronics...I think the battery is the blue cylinder is the picture.Do i need it? I would assume a pinball repair guy could fix it? (I have one local to me)Also, the coin comparitor light does not come on... is this a result of the bad battery, or another issue?I tried adding credits by flicking the metal wires that the coin passes by, but nothing happens.I would like to get it working correctly in the long run, but even set up for free at this point would be a plus. Thanks, Rob Logged Jim 1-513-984-2201 Supporting Vendors NLG Member 501 TO 1000 Posts Posts: 754 Reputation Power: 125 Gender: NLG Re: Bally Video Draw Poker Machine Bad Battery Message v 2363-1 « Reply #1 on: March 28, 2014, 09:46:45 AM » unfortunately , you will have to replace the battery. typically, those were 3.6 volt, ni-cad Varta batteries. I suppose any 3.6 with the same amp. ni cad battery will work. sounds as if you may have other issues, hopefully not, but you have to start here.Hope this helpsJim Logged Signature:MIDWEST SLOTS Selling Quality Slot Machines since 1995. Anything else you guys can think of? That will solve it. If you leave it powered on for a while it may charge the battery to the point where the machine will run. I believe the battery is only needed for memory retention when powered off, but when voltage gets low the machine will not boot, it will give you that error. I replaced my onboard battery in one of my machines with a switchable remote battery holder with a blocking diode. That way I can change the batteries out, no soldering, if they get low. I like your solution because this is for home use so obviously it isn't going to be on 24/7 ie in Casino. Red
simple, it is often caused by low voltage or when the battery gets changed. In the bottom right hand corner of the mb you'll see a 2 pole jumper that reads sram clr or safe ram clear that should have the jumper on only 1 leg, put it on both legs and slide the mb back in. press and hold the pseudo coin and the test simultaneously while powering up for about 5 seconds and you should get a CL L code now with all lights flashing. power it down, pull the board, put the jumper back on one leg, reinsert mb, and it should be fixed. pinballwiley wrote at 2007-07-21 00:27:39 The s5500 I'm working on was easy to clear the 83 F error code. Simply power down the unit, open the MPU tray located under the reels, replace the lithium battery if lower than 3.2 volts, move the SRAM clear jumper (J10 in near right hand corner of MPU board) so that it is across both pins, close the MPU tray, HOLD down the pseudo coin button & test button during power-up, then power down the unit & return jumper J10 to the off (not connected) position. This will cler 83 F errors. Dusty Rusty wrote at 2010-06-15 18:14:28 Hi I have the same problem on my bally the battery was dead so I repaced it and I have the 83-f code with all the lights flashing1 I power down the machine and hold the test and the pseudo button in but it will do nothing so I am still setting with my 83-f code but in my book it says some boards need a DB-25 key in the j3 plug on the front, a hand held format board. I am still working on my problem.
