It happend after a few days. After changing the timeout value from 5 tot 30 seconds, this all went away. This will improve the stability and might also help to prevent SNMP #2003 errors. Basically, the #2003 sensor indicates that the requests ran into a timeout, this might happen due to an overload of the target device which might lead to a lower prioritization for SNMP packets. Raising the timeout value, or even the scanning interval might help in these cases. When I first installed PRTG, every thing went fine and I was performing my job very well. But, One day I needed to format my Monitoring https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/6103-snmp-error-2003 Server. After formatting, I reinstalled same PRTG Enterprise Unlimited Edition but this time none of the SNMP based sensors are working. I am running Server and probe on the same machine (127.0.0.1). I also tried changing both of them on Interface IP but it did not work. I have already checked my firewall for UDP ports, PRTGserver communication port and Probe port. All are open. I even checked by SNMPTester and https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/10213-snmp-error-2003 that is working really fine that means there is no blockage for SNMP on the network. I also have another monitoring server with different tool(from different manufacturer) running in same VLAN. and that is working fine. Whenever I try to add a custom SNMP sensor to it, it returns me "Error# 2003". Please suggest some suitable trouble shooting so that I boost up my monitoring by adding PRTG. Thanks and Warm Regards, Nutan. custom-sensor snmp snmp-error#2003 Created on Oct 13, 2010 1:34:30 PM by Nutan Vishwakarma (0) ●1 Permalink 8 Replies Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down If you scan against the OID you want to use with the custom sensor using the SNMP Tester does that work? Moreover, its not actually for one particular OID, its with all SNMP Sensors(their respective OIDs). FYI, I am using PRTG V7 with Enterprise Unlimited Edition. My Opinion: Does it has something to do with SNMP Service and Trap destinations defined on Machine running PRTG. Can you please mail me the checklist(prerequisites) of configuring PRTG for SNMP monitoring? If I have Probe and Server r

Server is windows 2008 with snmp service activated and running. configured the community, firewall is off, both prtg server and file server on the same snmp error network without a firewall in between and all I get is error 2003. tried the snmp tester - the same. no response at all. tried restarting, opening ports, disabling fw on both computers, and still nothing. Went over 20 pages in this wonderful forum and tried all the possible solutions offered and still nothing. ran wireshark on both computers, i can see a 'get' packet on the file server, but it just doesnt reply. prtg error 2003 Does anyone have any idea if i am missing any settings on the prtg monitor or the windows server 2008? any assistance will be greatly appreciated. server-2008 snmp snmp-error#2003 Created on Oct 22, 2010 12:50:53 PM by orhen100 (0) ●1 Permalink 2 Replies Accepted Answer Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down in the Servers SNMP Service security settings you do allow SNMP requests from the PRTG PC2 Did you already try the Tester directly on the server and request data from the server?
